RSA Chase 2018

Tin soldier and alboum photo confirmed chasing is music to my ears. Really liked them both last year with fences in mind.

Yeah I did see that comment which has worried me a little, but the comment "Iv never had a fancied runner in it" made me question weather he didn't like the race or that hasn't really had a horse good enough to win it.. yet

Probably available at similar 'any race' .... might be worth looking at.

I thought Al Boum Photo was a bit hit and miss personally... (maybe 4 miler?!)

but interested to know your thoughts on Tin Soldier, especially with him running over in France so many times.

They don't strike me as ones to go right to the top but big prices I assume?

Tin soldier.
Nothing to do with his runs in France but on his hurdle form over here i genuinely think he has the potential to go right to the top of the three mile chasing division.

Alboum photo looked a chaser to me I thought he did well last season he just bumped into some better hurdlers at punchestown

I thought Monalee's chase debut was brilliant, he was so well balanced and jumped arrow straight. He's upto 3m noext tiome and he is my number 1 horse for the RSA right now.

indeed PitLad. Screamed out RSA when I was watching him.

A horse who I fancied for this race before the season started made his chase debut last week and I completely missed it. Fountains Windfall was an easy winner and put in a nice, clean round of jumping. His form in staying hurdles last year was very good when at his best, notably beating No Comment 8 lengths at Aintree. Always thought of as a chaser, he seems to have that ‘stays all day’ profile that you would need for a tough race like the RSA. If the ground is goodish, and if it isn’t the strongest renewal (which is isn’t looking like being at this stage), then I’d say he has a fair chance. Couple of ifs but still think he’s worth an interest at 40s (hills)

He's a decent horse. Can't knock someone backing a horse at 40s. He got a very easy lead at Aintree imo but to be fair he wasn't coming back to them , he ran an alright race behind Colins sister before his novice chase.

Is it Mia's storm that pricewise is really keen on for this race? I think I've heard it's his only bet on Chelt so far... although his ante post record is terrible from memory.

Is Monalee not going for the Drinmore then?

That wasn't the plan last week so id assume not, i don't blame HDB it's a tough race to go into after 1 facile win. Against some hardened types.

Fair enough, I'd have liked to have seen him in the Drinmore though, could have done the Coney Island route and followed it up in the Fort Leney. Any idea what the plan is for him so?

No idea personally, prob goes for another novice under a penalty to get some experience. Complete guess though

Presenting percy goes for a 3m5 handicap on Sunday off his mark of 145. Could be one for the NH chase if he wins.
A festival handicap if he dosent.

Blimey that's an interesting move for them

I might request a bet that PP wins on day one :highly_amused:

I can see why people would be taken by Presenting Percy but that Pertemps is littered with winners who promised to go onto bigger and better things and never did.
Fingal Bay was a Stayers hurdle winner in waiting, Holywell was a Gold Cup horse, even Unsinkable Boxer won a novice chase after this and was well touted for the Gold Cup before being beat half the track.
So I tend not to look at this race for future winners, they get into these handicap finals usually by virtue of hiding their true ability from the world and take advantage of a lenient mark on the big day, but handicapping is usually about as good as it gets for them...

Great point Ista. I've just looked back at all of the winners since 2000, not one went on to win a graded race at the festival.

How much did Call The Cops cost JP? I couldn't have imagined he'd be running at courses like Hexham three years later.

Huge bounce back to form for Presenting Percy there! Love the horse and have to admit I'd kind of written him off! Bolted up there...... RSA, 4 miler, Ultima? :devilish:

Won't be Ultima. Iv backed him for 4 miler. Not good enough for rsa but prob go there.
Another case of bolting up in handicap.
imo he'd be outclassed the rsa
