Royal Ascot 2021

Bet365 leaving prices hanging this week, as has been pointed out.

Wonderful tonight was 12-1, now 9-1 and still value when looking at the form.
Pythagorus overpriced at 20's as well I reckon.

I personally like Bellosa also but the Jersey stakes looks super competitive, in a week full of competitive races.

Quevega You beauty!!

Jersey Stakes

Often goes to an outsider and has an odd record of not being often won by a horse who won LTO. Low draws (1-3) don't do too well either

Possibles:
Fast Raaj, Fundamental, Khartoum, Mehmento, Light Refrain, Tactical
and I find this race too open to narrow these down further

1 Creative Force 5/1
2 Naval Crown 5/1
3 Vadream 28/1
4 Rhythm Master 40/1
5 Fundamental 16/1

Back to the drawing board. I rejected the winner owing to no form >6f but he saw it out well. I regretted not picking Naval Crown given his 2000 Guineas 4th

Younger horses do better in this race but the horses with the best form are the older horses

Dream of Dreams, Glen Shiel, Final Song, Sonaiyla

Had no money on just watching but Ryan Moore has had a shocker on kings Lynn there

1 Dream of Dreams 3/1
2 Glen Shiel 7/1
3 Art Power 7/2

The two older horses with the best group 1 form came 1st and 2nd

The Wokingham is a race I don't touch but the winner did have group standard form - King's Lynn unlucky but I can't see him beating the winner.

Looks like everyone who's had a poor weak is loading on Falcon eight

Big fan of the horse after Chester but was unsure hed like the ground

13/8 seems very short

In the long distance Queen Alexandra

Stag Horn, Cleonte, Stratum, The Grand Visir

….thanks everybody, a most enjoyable week & I reckon I’m just ahead of the bookies.

Stag Horn, Cleonte, Stratum, The Grand Visir

1 Stratum 4/1
2 Calling the Wind 40/1
3 The Grand Visir 17/2

Stratum had won the Cesarewitch under 9-7 on soft ground
I thought Stag Horn kept on well for a 4-y-o

Palace pier and campanelle put me well up in the end

Good job really as the rest of my selections were pretty bloody awful bar snow lantern

I loved the racing but painful from the betting side of things. Managed to end up a few points up which is very disappointing but I can't complain considering the position I was in after day 3. Fantastic Fox badly let me down as I had so many trebles with him being the last leg. I'm going to ignore the run as SDS could have chosen to ride the winner and too much use was made of him to get a good position from his inside draw which meant he then ran far too freely. Pendleton was also very disappointing(another last leg of trebles) so watch out for him next time out.

Highlights for me were Poetic Flare, Subjectivist and Wonderful Tonight. Poetic is miles ahead of any 3 year old miler and I would also have him ahead of Palace Pier who I think needs stepping upto 10f. Subjectivist won easily and I don't think Stradivarius not getting a run made any difference. Wonderful Tonight was only supposed to be 85% fit and did that! There are some really good fillies(Love, Tarnawa, Snowfall) to look forward to and it's difficult for me to split them.

I'm sitting on a rather tasty looking double with palace pier at 5s and tarnawa at 10s for the arc plus the single I had

Wonderful tonight nicely franked her form today

Cant wait to see her again, if she's improved from 4 to 5 half as much as she did from 3 to 4 she will take some beating

Does anyone in here have twitter?

If you could request skybet to price up creative force to win the prix maurice de gheest I would be eternally grateful

There were some great group 1 level performances: Palace Pier, Poetic Flare - will they clash in the future?. In the 1m4f class we have Love, Snowfall and Wonderful Tonight and that's only the fillies! I hope Adayar does better than last year's Derby winner and Alenquer could be as good if not better. And that's before the Irish Derby and Oaks!

However, just as Norton's Coin is my favourite Gold Cup winner (not that I picked him!) because he came from a small stable so my favourite Royal Ascot moment was Reshoun winning the Ascot Stakes at 66/1. If Reshoun had been trained by Mullins rather than Ian Williams the price would have been a lot shorter.

Let's hope this year's King George VI and Queen Elizabeth is more competitive than last year's, and the Arc is run on decent ground.
