Not too sure on his pedigree. Damsire is Dom Alco, who sired Silviniaco Conti, Neptune's Collanges and Grands Crus. As damsire, Al Boum Photo is there. Stamina there.

Jeu St Eloi is relatively new though with horses in the UK so hard to say if they end up being more speed or stamina. Kargese, Inthewaterside and Blue King D'Oroux are his highest rated and 2 of them are very keen.

His dam hasn't produced much either.

I'd have thought he'd stay at 2m unless beaten. Possibly they could get 3 chases into him for the handicap but missing most of last season may mean he's a bit fragile and can they get the required 3 runs in before Cheltenham. If they've got IEP (assuming he takes to fences), would they even bother with Cheltenham and possibly go Fairyhouse for the grade 1 there. Suppose the same could be said for IEP - if he has had a setback, would Fairyhouse be his target over the trip he wants.

He was my favourite PTP horse 2 years ago going into his bumper campaign so I'm hoping he proves to be good over fences, but haven't backed him for any race as the Arkle looks hot and I'm not sure they'll go up to 3m.

I wouldn't like to predict that one to be fair. His sire is fairly new on the scene but I like him and he's recently moved to Ireland so we'll hear more and more from him in the coming years. There wouldn't be a clear trend on the type of horse he produces yet but he's getting some sharper early types. The damsire in this case is Dom Alco who would normally impart stamina, but overall the pedigree is fairly weak.

His P2P win was really eye catching as you'd have never called him the winner for most of the contest. He achieved a very high rating and it was at a course you'd normally need to be a decent stayer to win at.

If the Turners was still around I'd have probably opted for that as he's shown both stamina and pace in his races. If I was considering him I'd likely need to see him run first, albeit you'd lose the price at that point.

Yeah I tend to look at PTP RPRs and I can't remember seeing many/any higher than 94, would mark him down as a horse with serious potential....

Officially it was a 94+ P2P rating which is very good (you also have ++ as well) but you will usually find higher most seasons. For example, there were six horses higher than 94 last season in 4 or 5yo races.

OK thanks, will keep a closer eye going forward...

The manner of his maiden hurdle win and his bumper win suggests he's a 2-miler to me. He was very keen throughout and won't get 3 miles unless he has learnt to settle. He may well have done, but I'd like to see it first. That being said 66-1 is too big and is worth a point with cash out in my opinion.

Whatever happens, Willie has a battalion of second string novices this year and he's going to have to run them against each other quite early on. Asian Master, Tullyhill, It's For Me, Ile Atlantique, Predators Gold, Mistergif, maybe even Western Diego. I'd suggest that whichever lose FTO may well be campaigned towards the Turners.

Racing Post just take the official P2P rating and publish it in their database I believe. But they aren't able to integrate the + and ++ element.

I'm behind on my data at the moment, but off the top of my head, there have been two 95++ performances already this season and we're only a few weeks in.

Jonbon and Teeshan at 97 is the highest I can recall .... or Qualimita at 91 if you include the mares allowance.

I had a look at Its For Me BANC as well, but couldn't find anything in the pedigree to suggest he had any chance of staying. JackieMoon33 ComplyOrDie DenmanSacre (or anyone else who has any idea about pedigrees, tagged you three because I've seen you all write about pedigrees in the past)

Is there anything there that I've missed as a complete beginner on the pedigree side that gives hope to Its For Me over 3m? I assume they'll also want to avoid Impaire so Turners handicap/BANC could be likely for Its For Me

Pretty much as both JackieMoon33 & DenmanSacre have said to be honest.

There is stamina there, on the dams side, through the sire (Dom Alco), but ultimately she's not produced anything of great note, apart from the potential of It's For Me, plus the maternal grand dam, Qlementine, produced pretty much 2 milers, with the best being 135 rated, Gin Coco.

His sire, Jeu St Eloi, is pretty new to the game, as the others have noted, but he is by Saint Des Saints, who can produce a staying type, but is generally a mixed bag.

Breeding can only take you so far, and nothing is set in stone with it, and probably should be used as a guide only. You will generally get outliers as well (less so with seasoned sires, IMO).

Personally I'd be waiting to see where Willie starts off It's For Me before thinking about parting with cash. From what I remember of him he was very keen, so I'd not be entertaining the longer trip until I had seen him in action and the fact he's been off the track for so long it's got to be likely he'll come back extremely fresh, too.

Thanks all - appreciate the comments and generally agree all around (I noticed he was keen vs Caldwell Potter, and can see the Turners handicap being a thought process for them).

Think the 50/1 Arkle is worth a stab (and have already done), but will leave the 66/1 RSA for now. Cheers guys :encouragement:

This - His way of going is far more important than his pedigree.
He has seemed to be very forward going and keen so that would definitely be a problem for longer trips.
Willie is far more likely to dismiss breeding in favour of how the horses actually run and jump on the course.

Worth small stakes as both likely Gold Cup imo but Fact To File and Spillanes Tower Ryanair Gold cup reversed.

27/1 and 149/1.

Yep. He’s one that the eye test should be most important.

its for me trimmed for the arkle by paddy power and unibet who were both stand out 50s. 33s and 25s respectively now.

….a little surprised it took them so long. Still 66s for BANC.

Mullins name-checked Majborough, IEP for Arkle and we know he has Ballyburn. He could be mob handed in some races.

I've done the f2f (Ryanair)spillanes tower (gc) double but not the reverse one as already got f2f covered for gold cup and nowt on ST. Like you say i reckon both will go gold cup though.

Suppose you could also throw in Monty’s Star for shits and giggles to doubles with whoever may go Ryanair as he has close form ties with both.

If you think both will go GC then double them both with Corbetts Cross in the Ryanair.

Corbetts targeting the King George now.

Jp got some cracking chasers, think i may do a few doubles/trebles with them.

prob mentioned already but with impaire entered in beginners chase at 2m5 I think bally/arkle and iep/banc is worth covering

Maybe wait for the declaration, in case High Class Hero or O'Moore Park runs in the race instead?
