Preview Evenings - links, details and write ups

Picking up on Ruby's crabbing of Fact to File's Durkan run.
He's not giving the horse credit for having to make up so much ground in the first place.
IMO that is harder to do than getting a soft lead.
So always give a horse credit for getting into it. And he was the only one that did,
He’s obviously forgotten about Fact to File’s run in the John Durkan the previous year when he outbattled Spillane’s Tower,Galopin des Champs and Fastorslow

Some of the lack of knowledge in these previews have been staggering
Watched Andrew Mount in one with Kate Treacy and the Cheltmental Guy
They did a quiz and he hadn’t a clue,it was embarrassing

Only got 2 right!!

Just watched a preview with the Bowen brothers amongst others on the panel, and for someone prominent in the Hendo yard James wouldn't have filled you with confidence if you were a backer of Old Park Star thats for sure. Seemed pretty dismissive of that ones chances, conversely very optimistic about Manlaga and Jeriko De Reponet.
Dan Astbury gave a good mention for Minella Academy in the Triumph..not sure whether it goes/gets in and both Sean and Mickey sounded positive about their Ballykinlar and Nimba in the Pipe and Bumper respectively at wild prices.

….they used to save their best for Aintree, done me lots of favours over the years. Nimba is interesting in the bumper at 50-1, thanks for posting.

Rich Ricci not committing to anything.
But has said they are considering head gear if she runs in the champion.
Which at the very least shows they are seriously considering it.
Chapman did a good job of pushing him.

Was it just love sign and selma discussed (other than lossie flossie)

Nope he stated he would like gaelic in the gold cup, but townend wants to ride him on the ryanair.
But then waffled about willie being more knowledgable than himself, almost preparing himself to get bummed and telling himself he might like it.
He also said his 3 juveniles he would prefer to be split, selma triumph, madness boodles, and charm in the mares novice.
also said laurets deatruval worked very well today and turners, supreme, bartlett is the order of likelihood but had no clue.

said he was ambivalent on Lossie's race and will leave it to willie by sounds of it.
Last year he says he made the decision to go mares.

Very interesting. If that's true then I'd say she's nailed on for the CH.

Rob Acheson (of Robcour) on We're Going Chasing YT preview... was sweet on Skylight Hustle to run a big race in the Turners (not sure if Kennedy will ride). Unsurprisingly keen on Teahupoo. No decision on Only By Night re: Champion Chase/Mares Chase yet but leaning towards the latter (on the basis of current/predicted going). Mange Tout will skip Cheltenham for Aintree (they prefer a speedy 2m for her), Highland Crystal is being aimed at the Triumph - described as a strong stayer and maybe an EW chance. Bemused by the hype and fairly cool on Spinningayarn in the Bartlett. Not much else of note from theirs but gave a good word for Minella Yoga in the Fred Winter (well regarded by previous connections & put away for this after an academy hurdle completed his qualification status).

Appears the Skybet sportinglife one (last night)
The panel includes ITV Racing duo Ed Chamberlin and Oli Bell, top pundits Fran Berry, Daryl Jacob and Mark Howard plus Marine Nationale's jockey Sean Flanagan.

Was not streamed, cant seem to find any quotes on X from this. Anyone had any luck?

Did he actually use the word ambivalent?

Sounded very much to me that unless something happens to Wodhooh or she works terribly this week, then it would be the champion hurdle.

The whole run them in the race you can win and owners want winners Glib bullshit (in an example like Ricci's operation IMO) was also discussed.
But then completely contradicted with the Gaelic Warrior discussion. As when given the hypothetical of Fact to File being supplemented for gold cup, Ricci still favoured the Gold cup for Gaelic, but then spouted some bullshit about him not being there every day etc, and willie knows more etc.

Essentially saying he'd accept getting bullied into running the horse in the ryanair for paul to ride even though it's his biggest ambition in racing to win the gold cup !!!

Lydia had to stop herself from telling him to get some balls or something similar.

He also said that Patrick rides Gaelic every day in his work which is why he doesn't choose Danny if Paul is unavailable, but then talked about amateur jockeys not being as good as pros !!.

He did jock Patrick off of Lossie in last season's irish champion hurdle when danny rode her and she fell. That might not have helped Danny's case either.

You can certainly see why decisions are difficult for them to make, as there is a lot of balls in the air, which I've always understood. But added to that, it seems is several contradictory minds.

I couldn't bear to be in a room with a few fella's who are all saying one thing then contradicting themselves moments later.
I'd go fucking mental.
I'd Probably quit the first day or get sacked for calling them fucking idiots.

I think it's his main character trait.
He'd have died and starved to death at the fork in a road, back before we had road signs.
Until Willie comes to the rescue with a packed lunch telling him which way he needs to go.

Gavin Cromwell & a few others are in Edenburry tomorrow night at Larkins Bar & Lounge, if anyone is local and fancies stumping up 10 euros.

I must admit, I've barely watched any previews this season.

I find the ones with anyone connected to Willie to be a complete waste of time. You've got Patrick, Ruby, Mikey Fogarty, David Mullins, Danny Mullins & David Casey attending and they could all give you a different horse for each race or a different trip for one horse! It may genuinely be their opinions, but then we all know Willie has the final say, so it is pointless. They will obviously get some right, of course they will, when you split an opinion of one horse between 6 people.
