Hi all
You may have spotted a few of my posts as I gradually go from a lurker post festival to an active member, and suddenly realised I hadn't said hello. I come from a sport-hating family so my introduction to racing was fairly late in life, turning up to my first race in my early twenties with a couple of mates at a Festival Trials day at Cheltenham about ten years back. I thoroughly enjoyed it and over the last few years I've gradually been stepping up my interest in NH racing, heading regularly to Cheltenham, Sandown and Kempton.
The festival just gone was a big one for me, as I went from placing a handful of bets in total, to having more of a flutter, watching previews and debating with a couple of my closest friends. Of course it helped that I was over 100 points up over the festival, not least because of the wonderful Mrs Milner at 35/1 placed a month out, and subsequently getting Minella Times in the national a month out as well leading to a very handy profit since the start of the year.
So that brings me to antepost betting. My two mates and I do a form of fantasy racing where we pick a meeting and have a couple of picks each race and see who wins over the season, which encourages me to track the horses much more closely than I've ever done before. That, the frustration with some of the short prices on the day at Cheltenham and seeing FM's name up in lights led me here, and it's been great fun so far.
Really enjoying learning so much from you all, and look forward to contributing my two penny's worth when I can.
Cheers!
