October ‘25 Yankee

Much as I’d like to think it’s something to do with me being captain 😂… it’s more a sign, speaking on behalf of forum - that we are all sick to death of the flat and eagerly waiting for the start of the NH season. I for one was refreshing to both see the selections AND for confirmation if anyone’s OJA had landed..

Now that it’s here - the excitement is building for sure. Let’s be having you!
Normally , I'd agree with You Knockando , but the last few Saturday's , i've been banging in the winners on the flat ..
Only a couple of decent saturday's left to go though .. , So it won't be Long for the Jump's Now .
.... a couple of Decent Jumps races today at Tipperary actually (y)..

Anyone any thoughts on the weekend winners?

Love Me Tender - won as his odds suggested. Out early enough for a WPM Cheltenham contender?

Taponthego - nice win at short odds although haven't actually watched the race back yet. Decent enough form over hurdles and HdB's do tend to improve for fences. Anyone like him for the BANC or do we feel he might be just below top level?

….interesting to find that race Love me Tender in @Saxon Warrior October race planner, so it’s one with a bit of history. Saxon suggests maybe one for Royal Bond rather than a specific Cheltenham target at this point. Saying that, commentators and Townend seemed particularly taken with that run.

Good that Saxon’s Race Planner is now running, worth watching this month as is any OJA suggestions, I notice @darlojim mentioning a few in the Juvenile thread.

I have to admit , I backed Taponthego for the B.A.N.C . off the back of the Martin Pipe run @ 66-1 .
whether he's good enough for a B.A.N.C. , i'm not sure yet .. but won nicely last Saturday.
The Martin Pipe Race Sometimes throws up a winner the following festival . certainly some good Horses anyhow.

….for those wanting more definite targets, Mullins giving his early season thoughts (though not definitive);

Anzadam - CH
Bambino Fever - MNH
Dinoblue - MC
F2F - Ry/GC
Final Demand - staying chaser
IEP - Ryanair
Kitzbuhel - staying Nov chaser
KDB - Arkle
Lecky - GC
Sortudo - staying Nov Hrd.

Good to have at least a steer on some of his big names at this stage 👌

Although don't think there were many surprises in there.

"Others under consideration for the Grade 1 at Down Royal are Croke Park, Stellar Story, Found A Fifty and Better Days Ahead"

Probably not on many people's radar, but some decent ones imo, I know not as flashy as Willie's, but placed horses and WINNERS at the festival, some big prices for some outsiders for the Gold Cup or Ryanair? Keep eyes peeled for entries and ones in there i would like to put up in an ew Yankee for the month. I was struggling to think who Gordy had for the division the other day, and they are no mugs, can easily see one of them hit the frame in a Gold Cup espeically the 2 placed in the RSA!

*Quote at start, curiously of RP article.

Lossiemouth ?🤣

….i haven’t nominated one yet but with Mullins announcing Ballyburn is staying over hurdles and aimed at Stayers, then it could be worth including him with 7-1 still available.
Yes, especially if JDV goes chasing

Not sure re Final Demand and trip now after that little piece by Mullins. Yes he mentioned staying chaser but also that he may start out over 2m. Look good over that and perhaps they'll keep him at the minimum. What are the odds that he ends up Willies Arkle horse and Kopek runs in the BANC???

Bloody hope not 😂 as Kopek is so far my biggest potential winner for the Arkle out of all races. I’d be shocked if Final Demand isn’t his BANC No.1 as everyone I’ve heard speak about him says that he was outspeeded in the Turners and 3m is written all over for him. And Kopek has Atleast been name dropped by Willie as an Arkle horse

My minor concern with final demand is that Willie says he’s a proper 2 1/2 miler and keeps him for fairyhouse and aintree as with impaire et passe

Yesterday’s article did mention that he’s happy to start Final Demand out over 2.5 or 3m beginners Chase if the ground comes up suitable. Let’s hope he’s a BANC horse as I’m sure there’s many on here who are invested in him being one

I'd be surprised if he didn't end up his BANC horse as well but it was just the 'wouldn't be worried starting over 2m if they need to' that threw me. Going by Saxons Mullins 10 year stats, only one of his BANC runners started out over 2 in the same season and that was Sir Gerhard who basically had no choice .
