October ‘25 Yankee

I know I've been beating the drum a bit (a lot).....

But if people like Lecky Watson or Stellar Story for the Gold Cup then you just have to consider Haiti Coleurs for the race.

On a line through Better Days Ahead, who plenty fancied for the BANC, Haiti beat him nearly 30 lengths in the Irish National. On paper that would have been good enough form for Haiti to have won the BANC.

Haiti was also well clear of Resplendent Grey in the NHC who went on to win the Bet365 Chase at Sandown. Spanish Harlem finished 4th in that race and came out and won at Punchestown next and won the Kerry National this season. Behind him in the Kerry National was French Dynamite who has since won the Munster National. Klarc Kent was also well beaten in the NHC and came out again and finished a close 2nd in the Scottish National.

The form lines are very good to say the least !
Form lines in handicaps not G1/races 😀

At the grand old age of 9 next March he has to improve around 20lbs on last years performances to win the GC……..where is the improvement coming from?

Just take a look at the improvement this year's GC winner made. It can be done and has been done on numerous occasions.

I agree, it’s just the age bit I can’t get over…..with regard to the festival i maybe generally ageist! 😂

Last years GC winner was 7 years old and Haiti would need to be a late developer to reach a 170 rating, which I think will be needed to win next years GC

I understand what you are saying. He's different though. Very little mileage. He came into the Game late. Only 5 chases and 6 hurdle runs. Improvement he's made si far is on a massive upward curve. Got the best jockey around on him too.

He loves Cheltenham as well. Very good jumper and Eats the Hill.

….hopefully the stable tours have thrown a few up for consideration.

Lots of discussion re Juveniles, things will change but maybe @darlojim can suggest a TH selection at this point in time.

The pressures on :ROFLMAO:

I'd probably say Mange Tout makes most sense right now - she's going to run in the DR Juvenile on Saturday and will shorten up from there with the way they're talking about her.

….thanks, Jim, I’m sure there’s plenty who have her in the book. 14-1 now with cash-out, Hills go 16s. Hopefully Hills offer a tempting WTAF offer on Saturday for a top-up.

A serious consideration for @RufusFlynn, especially if he plans to put his selections up before she runs.

Majborough has to be right up there as well after the most recent comments from Willie. Sounds like all systems go now for the Champion Chase.

Yeah I'd agree with Majborough. Lets just say he didn't fluff his lines at the 2nd last and last in the Arkle. He'd have won that comfortably and would be ~5/2 for this race imo. It's really not a deep renewal

….looks like he’s been cut to 7s with 365 probably following stable tour comment yesterday. Could still be a decent price;

MAJBOROUGH

I'm very happy with him. He did nicely out at grass and came back in great shape. I'm looking forward to getting him going and we'll probably go for the Hilly Way, that could be a nice starting point for him. I'm aiming him towards the Champion Chase. I think he should be fine, I know he disappointed with his jumping at Cheltenham last season but I'm hoping with a more positive attitude he might jump better. He came back at Punchestown and flew his fences and we were very pleased with him. That's the direction I have in my head. I haven't spoken to JP [McManus] about it, but I doubt he wants to go down the Ryanair route with him. The horse will probably tell us around Christmas or the Dublin Racing Festival, we'll see what way he has matured.

….Betfair have their ‘bet £5 multiples get £5’ offer up this week.

Need to catch up on various threads and go over all the stable tours posted so far but will aim to have the final selections for October posted by Friday so can see any Down Royal entries and where applicable get them in a yankee before they run.

If anyone has any last minute shouts they want for consideration - either from stable tour nuggets or elsewhere - then please shout up!

Thoughts below on first 2 days, obvs got to see who is already included in earlier bets but.....

* Arkle - really like Kopek Des Bordes.
* Champion Hurdle - State Man the bet at current prices.
* Brown Advisory - Final Demand could be mustard.
* Champion Chase - think the value currently sits with Majborough and Kalif Du Berlais.
* Champion Bumper - like Bud Fox.

Hopefully @somer1 is ready to take the November lead and @Durham Edition captaining the December effort.
Thanks for that Eggs, I'm off to Wetherby for the Charlie Hall on Saturday might get to see Kadastral in the flesh see how he looks.

….i look forward to it & will be watching with interest. All the noise suggests Mydaddypaddy is their top novice hurdler, Skelton did mention Kadastral in his stable tour;

‘He is a lovely horse who won the valuable bumper at Newbury. He will start over hurdles over two miles in November but will get two and a half in the spring. We would have to have Graded aspirations for him. Hopefully, he can be a good hurdler, but I would say he be a better chaser.’

Sorry didn't mean to quote 😔

I'd second throwing Bud Fox into the October yankee.
Also Conman John impressed last weekend at Cheltenham, from the last to the line he found another gear, not something you see that often over 3m trips, more so from horse who've led from gun to tape, at 25/1 with that course experience, he's worth throwing into the mix.

With the Bumper not readily priced up with all the main firms it could be a bit difficult for those wanting to do the monthly Yankee. Just throwing that out there for consideration

The horse that was just pipped by Conman John on debut (Also trained by Russell) is worth backing next time I'd say.
