Novice Hurdlers 2027

Royal Response declared for Nicky against Nans Choice in Thursday. That could be a very informative race. Nans Choice already looks good. Palinca is well regarded for Henry but Personal Space (also Henry) hammered Royal Response in a point before Royal Response hacked up in her next race. She then went for £290,000. Loads of little ties into that race

Looking at the odds and previous form of those in behind, it might have been one of the worst maidens we'll see.
I'd go steady on the hyperbole.
Aye very little substance to the race but visually she passed the test, hurdled slick and quickened when asked.

She looked nice (y) but winning a maiden like that puts you nowhere near single figures or even 12-1 IMO.
If you're on at 25's or bigger then that will have been a satisfactory watch.

Could turn into a contender though, we'll see when she steps up in class on her next start.
If the stable thinks she's smart then that's promising for any backers.

She did what was expected and did it well. Henry has a huge amount of Novice Mares this season who all look encouraging. Can see him winning it again.

….i think so too, be interesting where she ranks in their pecking order. BV have also cut to 12s, Hills go 16-1.

Mind you, your Mate Tizzard eulogises over Fairy Park so maybe a related e/w double with Alexei

Often good to have a note of caution Q so fair play.

I liked a lot of what I saw today (stable confidence, settling, hurdling, quickening), first job done and I wonder where we'll see her next.

New Rules overcame a lack of stable confidence as well as the odds on fav nicely at Chep. Looks likely to make a chaser in longer term but they must be pleased with that as I have him at 3 figures for the Turners.

Won really well especially as he looked as raw as anything. Looked a decent race as well. Reckon the form will work out well. Challow?

The joys of punting novice races at Cheltenham. Win a weak maiden and you halve in price. She did it well enough but could be a hot division this year with Witches Familiar already putting a good marker down and several talented bumper fillies/mares going hurdling also.

Especially when you consider how Henry campaigns his horses. Of his 25 winners the last ten years, only 5 were unbeaten that season. 3 of them were Honeysuckle, 1 was Quixlios who he hadn't trained prior to Cheltenham, and one was Bob Ollinger, who was exceptionally fortunate, 1 was Air of Entitlement who'd only run once and went off at 16/1.

In fact, I have (please double check this) 15 of those winners as beaten LTO.

Maybe she's the one, but with Henry there's often a very significant chance you can get an overreaction later in the season

Totally agree. The Mares novice is a race I do not want to touch anytime soon, as there are potentially so many good horses out there.

I get all the pessimism re Palinca, it wouldn’t be a race I’d be in a rush to get stuck into in November either, but isn’t this how you book builders work ?
Identify a prospect, get the price before debut/reappearance then find dangers to get balance your book ?
Anyone who snared the 33s has a decent trading voucher now if nothing else…
