Ive got a feeling hes on fire could be mullins bingo horse this year :-(
….Tim Collins, TV tipster;
‘The definition of a sporting superstar is an extremely famous, highly successful, and exceptionally talented figure. In this instance, neither of the first two descriptions apply to He’s On Fire, who remains in the shadows after a low-key Carlisle maiden hurdle victory and quiet Grade 2 Fairyhouse romp away from the mainstream cameras.
‘Exceptionally talented figure’ does work, however. This French import - yet another Willie Mullins trainee on this list - was entered in both the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle and Turners’ Novices Hurdle at the 2026 Cheltenham festival but it was already decided that he would not compete before he made his stable debut.
Tackling the best around over hurdles was never part of the plan, something that others would be bewildered by given the ability he showed in his two aforementioned appearances. However, Mullins has always been adamant that novice chasing was his game and that a step up in distance to 3m would be ideal.
Already officially rated 148 over inadequate trips and over his unfavoured obstacle according to his legendary trainer, it is difficult to fathom exactly where his ceiling is. He has been priced up aggressively (10/1) in the ante-post markets for the Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase, but that could be more than halved if he was to make an impressive debut over fences in the autumn.
Tom’s verdict: I’m probably more excited about this horse than any other in the list. He’s a fine physical specimen with copious scope, a big stride, and infinite upside. It is unlikely that he will ever achieve what Gaelic Warrior or I Am Maximus have, but I wouldn’t be surprised if we’re talking about him for years to come if he continues to develop as expected.’
