Novice Chasers 2027

Are there any horses that aren't.......😂
Only mentioning it because i have seen her mentioned for the Mares Hurdle. :D

Decent horse to be fair with plenty of experience. Intermediate is probably her bag based on last season so she could go a few ways.

Eddie O'Leary says Place De La Nation 'probably' goes chasing
Ah shit. What's with the obsession of sending horses chasing? She potentially hasn't reached the limit of her ability yet over hurdles and has already won a grade 1. What do they hope to achieve by going chasing that she can't do over hurdles?

Agree. I'm getting bored of it now.

Yeah I agree, I especially agree with Mares. There are loads they can go for over hurdles with allowances and in their own divisions.

Is this the pocket talking? Unsure how it can be boring?!
For me it is the disregard for hurdling. Almost every horse has to be a chaser and tried chasing at some point despite what many achieve over hurdles. Many trainers seem to treat hurdling as a second rate product compared to chasing. Whether it is the continuous hunt for the next Gold Cup horse, I don't know. Maybe it is a by-product of more horses coming from P2P field and breeding? Taking Place De La Nation as the example, she won a grade 1 hurdle on last start beating Jade De Grugy and Wodhooh despite being a novice. Would she be able to achieve better than that over fences? I highly doubt it.

Yep it's definitely overdue to limit the age of bumper horses to 5 or 6, full stop and not just the graded races in spring
The idea of bumpers is to give horses experience before going over obstacles even though many come from PtP's.
Maybe they could also prevent horses from going chasing before the age of 6 also. On the same basis, experience + welfare etc.
This should help fill out the hurdle division and provide more chance that some could develop into champions and graded level over hurdles.

Champion Hurdle, Champion Chase and Gold Cup should have the same prize money. Job done...

Yeah, we all know that owners are only in it for the money.

Champion Hurdle 262K
Champion Chase 2125K
Gold Cup 352K

Easy money for Lossy in a 5 horse race
Not to de-rail the chasers thread but am i the only one that thinks Mydaddypaddy has huge potential for loads of improvement?

I am invested in both so not too concerned but he could and i expect to improve an absolute ton this season. He has loads going for him. Lightly raced, young, loads of finishing speed, high cruising speed and an uncanny knack of meeting his hurdles on a near perfect stride.

Agree. Have watched Supreme back several times and can see why they are going CH route. He's a super traveller as you say and spends little time in the air. He was only 5 in May this year so he was definitely punching above his weight in March. Bags of improvement hopefully.
