National Hunt Chase (4 miler) 2019

Kevin Blake said Mortal 4 miler unlikely but it's a Giggi shout.

Or Champagne Classic

You'd have to actually see him out 1st before you could even guess where he goes. On his martin pipe run a drop to 2 1/2 would be fine. He gets 3. Haven't seen anything to suggest 4 miles.

Not saying that I think he will go here, but as a staying giggi novice chaser he is a candidate. Flogas entry suggests all is well and I look forward to seeing him out, be it in that race or something less ambitious.

I would have thought that if Giggy have DELTA WORK for the RSA that MORTAL could easily come here. His dam is Pomme Tiepy who was all-over a decent staying chaser who ran well in an Irish National. Given Mortals rock solid grade 1 form I wouldn't put anyone off backing the horse for the 4-miler. A lot of better class horses run in the race now and I think he could be one of them.

Scooby is right on this one - O'Leary doesn't give a feck about this race. Strictly grade 1's. Might chuck Blow By Blow at it if the handicapper doesn't play ball. If they think Mortal is any kind of weapon he'll run in the JLT or RSA as well as their others.

I am not sure why Giggy wouldn’t be bothered with the NH Chase. They had

* the well fancied 9/1 3rd, behind Native River/Minella Rocco in 2016,
* the winner (Tiger Roll) in 2017, when also having the 4/1 Fav in 5th
* a 6/1 shot ran unplaced for them in 2018.

I don’t think that they throw lots of horses at it, but a couple that they think will stay the trip, each year.

Given MORTALs breeding, and stable view that he will improve for a trip, I would think it’s more likely that he would run here than the JLT. It’s either the RSA or the 4-Miler IMHO.

It’s differing opinion that make a bookmakers book, and I am happy with 20/1 for Mortal in the 4-Miler.

With his run at Christmas, you'd have to say the way he ran would be more of a JLT horse.

Agree Hampton. 1st choice RSA for me. They think a lot of him.

I've Ok Corral for this- but i do fear Mortal a little too.

I'd agree with Scooby they don't really target here, but as a by product of having some many good staying chasers...they will always have a decent hand.

That's right, I agree.

You got the impression that Willie Mullins wanted Don Poli in the 4-miler, the year he won the RSA. With the glorious benefit of hindsight, I have no doubt they we're all correct. Coneygree would have won the RSA, Don Poli would have won the 4-miler - but that is't how it panned out... if Coneygree didn't go for the Gold Cup, I don't think Gigginstown would have been wrong with their call either.

He even wanted roi des Francs in the 4 miler. To be told. No, RSA. They had the fav in no more heroes.

Last year Gordon wanted dounikos. To be told no.

Gigginstown - last 10 years in this race (I know the race has changed significantly in this time, these are just the facts)

2010 - 0 runners
2011 - 0 runners
2012 - 1 runner - Four Commanders 10/1 - 3rd
2013 - 1 runner - Tofino Bay 8/1 - 2nd
2014 - 1 runner - Rogue Angel 16/1 - 7th
2015 - 2 runners - Very Wood 7/2F 10th & Thunder And Roses 14/1, UR
2016 - 1 runner - Measureofmydreams 9/1 - 3rd
2017 - 2 runners - Tiger Roll 16/1, 1st & A Genie In Abottle 4/1F - 5th
2018 - 1 runner - Mossback 6/1 - Fall

On the back of this conversation, i was going to hold off on Mortal, but i think i'll chance him with 365 for the cash out.

Skybet NRNB 8s isn't anywhere near as appealing.

Jamie Codd was on Off The Ball on Friday and the hosts had one job.... but they didn't even ask who he will be riding in this. :sorrow:

Loads of Skybets NRNB prices are shockingly bad

They are, but you effectively have 2 markets now, as more firms apply NRNB their prices will shorten too, at the moment Sky are out on a limb.
The next 2/3 weeks I always find a good time to bet AP, half are NRNB and half aren’t, choices...

Interesting jockey booking with Cheltenham in mind. Mr P.W.Mullins chooses to maintain his partnership with Mall Dini rather than take the mount on any of WPM's 8 chances.
