National Hunt Chase (4 miler) 2019

BBB will have to run again to get the mark changed. It's in the official guidelines that ratings shouldn't be altered for one poor run.

Ballyward 5's , 6's and 7's now across the board

What's Blow by blow gonna do ??, I see he was pulled up.

Came on to ask the same thing given my obvious non staying doubts anyway. Was something amiss or just another non staying performance?

I didn't watch the race myself C.O.D , was hoping someone would tell us.

Ballyward.

I’m delighted with that considering it was just his second run over fences. Whether we give him another run over a shorter trip for experience before Cheltenham I’m not sure," said Mullins.

“I’d imagine the RSA will be the race for him. He has lots of stamina and seems to jump well enough.”

So we've established Ballyward can be supplemented for the RSA up the march 7th. If that's what they opt to do can Willie enter another for the 4 miler?

Supplement obviously again at cost.
ballyward can stay and go 4 miler. Likely been the plan unless Patrick is in charge of entries.

On supplementing for this race, appears there is no supplementary stage unlike the other novice chases

You have got to ask the question why was he not entered for the RSA in the first place ?

It does. Willie said he was a lazy horse so perhaps they always had the 4 miler in mind.

I remember him winning his bumper a couple of years ago on Welsh National Day and that was over 2.5 miles so it looks like they've always thought he needs a trip. WPM doesn't usually make mistakes of not entering horses you I'd say he's a near certainty to be running in this.

Great performance from Ballyward , 4 miler the plan i feel after listening to Willies comments. That albert bartlett form looking good and OK corral and ballyward look to have 4 miler to themselves unless Giggi can throw a dart or two at race , maybe Champayne Classic , BBB and Mortal.

Iv backed them both at 33s, but that's silly talk. There's loads of decent horses that are going there, will be a competative race. Mr whipped being massively underestimated here imo. Discorame who fell today would have a solid chance. Gordon will throw a few at it.... Poss glenloe / gun digger . ... there will be some beaten ones out of the graded races at Christmas and feom the Dublin racing festival that go underestimated ie the world's end... if he comes here.

blow by blow probably not one of them. May aswell leave him at home tbh. Give him a confidence booster in an easy race then the Irish national.

Discorama the one to take out of the race? Outpaced early and ridden a long way from home but finished best of all and who knows how close he would have got to Ballyward.

Still 33s in places and as low as 10s elsewhere.... worth a few quid ew as long as the fall doesn’t leave a mark.

I think the price is big because the target is up in the air, Don. I think you do him a dis service to be fair. I know Cooper isn't the most popular, but he gave him a lovely waiting ride and put him into the race just at the right time. The front 2 did go a bit quick but I'm not sure he was outpaced. I really don't know what the result would have been if he'd stood up - and I'm a Ballyward backer.

How am I doing him a disservice? He was the first one off the bridle but finished best of the lot.... being complementary about his chance in the 4 miler... will be outpaced in anything else

I diddnt realise he was actually still 33s.

Thought it was oddschecker messing about. Availed of some of that. I'm obviously aware there's a chance he may not run. But common sense to me that he will especially when they've mentioned it all year. Has a cracking chance imo. And the race today was also deffinately in the balance imo.
