National Hunt Challenge Cup Amateur Riders' Novices' Chase

Despite everyone saying, and the FJ thread saying hes out for the season. I still havent seen that myself. All iv seen is he probably wont make it out which is a real shame

Exactly what I have seen also, but it was the fact a couple of days later WPM came out with that after Ruby was saying something different

Changes below:

Distance

The National Hunt Chase will be run over about 3m6f (3m 5f 201y).

The number of fences jumped will reduce from 25 to 23.

Horses

All horses must have a minimum BHA rating of 120 to participate. This change brings the National Hunt Chase in line with the G1 novices’ chases staged at The Festival – the Racing Post Arkle Novices’ Chase, the RSA Insurance Novices’ Chase and the JLT Novices’ Chase

Horses must have run in at least two chases and must have finished in the first four in a chase staged over an extended two miles and seven and a half furlongs or further

Horses must have run at least once in a chase during the current season.

Jockeys

All jockeys riding in the National Hunt Chase must have ridden a minimum of 20 times and achieved at least five winners over fences

All qualifying rides must have come in races staged under Rules (i.e. excluding point-to-point races).

Guess we will know if he isnt entered up over 3m before! Quite an informative clause for antepost purposes.

Think this is very important CCM, as you've said.
I'm not convinced the odds compilers will fully reflect this new qualifying criteria.
There aren't that many that meet it so far.
And you wouldn't want to be leaving it too late to get the first four finish in a 3 miler either.
Could be a useful edge come late Jan early Feb.

Of the four finishers last season
Discorama
Jerrysback

would not have qualified.

Ten up novices chase. Every year...

Yep, that'd be my last race I'd be waiting for - for this.
But their might be a few that have to be ready and run in this if they've not already qualified.
And they won't all necessarily be fit that weekend.

The 10-1 for Champagne Classic given Elliott consistently stating this target looks big after reflecting on the qualifying criteria. It's not going to be straightforward and the class of horse could actually be a little lower than normal. At least the number of them.

Conversely, it may also see a very good animal go for the race if qualified, and the rest look shite.

CC
Runs in the RSA for me. Fully Expecting him to go very well against BOD at christmas

He could change his mind I suppose, if the results sway him.

That race will tell us plenty for sure. Agree if CC beats BOD we could see race reversal.

Big Price Diff on Faugheen here 33/1 B365 and PP go 14/1
Obviously no guarantees he even goes to Cheltenham but bit of a value angle for now

Yep. As per my post earlier Ruby hinted strongly this is a race that’s on the cards

What do the stats tell us about former Champion Hurdle winners running in the 4 miler???

What's the 4 miler?

He ran in the stayers, won the punchestown stayers the year before. A ptp and a 3m novice novice hurdle. Hes not the avg CH speed horse like MTOY.

The NH chase is By far The easiest race that he can go for, that sums it up for me.
