Sorry, you're correct. I was thinking of Gold Trip in 2 who was pretty close to the winner for most of the race. Soulcombe in 4, who missed the break completely, was another who didn't suffer from being off the pace even if it wasn't by choice.

Moore didn't have the benefit of hindsight though

Had they not gone that suicidal pace in the opening 2 or 3f he'd have been in the perfect spot

And let's be honest had they gone slow he wouldn't have won anyway, horse just didnt have it on the day.

Everything has to go right in these races and the 9/4-5/2 prices i was seeing yesterday were way way too short.

Pretty much what I've been saying about the price for the last few weeks, FF91.

I wasn't blaming Moore, by the way. I think that he was riding to a pre-agreed plan. Absurde was fairly close to him most of the way round and made his move at about the same time so I suspect that Team Mullins had decided that this was the way to go. They were assuming that Vauban could go a strong pace and stay on better at the end. I think that someone early in this thread suggested a race plan very similar to how it actually went although that included him running away from the field in the final 400 metres.
