Mares Novice Hurdle 2018

2/1 about Laurina factors in the trainer and jockey as well as the impressive performance. I was a little reluctant to take the NRNB beforehand but when you consider the kind of market reactions to wins it does become quite an important and useful betting strategy IMO. Certainly won't be stopping doing it any time soon.

I can't decide what to do with as 20/1 Salsaretta and 16/1 Mystic Theare both available for cash out (that aren't NRNB)

Laurina looks an incredibly obvious number 1 now.... so is Salsaretta going to be the mount of Townend? - or is it much more likely Mystic Theare is his mount?

Nothing to lose running Salsaretta in it though, as if she goes for graded races and gets beaten she can do the Let's Dance route as jono eluded to...

In all likelihood that looks like it may be leaving me down to just the 1 runner. With that in mind, and when you take out Apples Shakira, Salsaretta, Daphne Du Clos, Stormy Ireland and Mystic Theatre from the top 8 of the betting it does make me tempted to take the 16/1 on BetVictor. [for Irish Roe] Tough i'm probably more inclined to instead back Countister at 12/1 with WH. Particularly as this would be the only race for her so you would be getting money back if she wasn't to run. From Henderson's last few blogs she is the number 1 in the yard for this race. She was well beaten by Cap Soleil on debut at Newbury but she looked just as good as the winner before the last only to find little. She may have just needed the run but she made amends next time out and the form of that race has looked ok. The second De Rasher Counter won at Fontwell after and then looked set for 3rd place today at Cheltenham behind the smart Santini and Black Op before falling at the last. Clondaw Castle has also followed up with a win.

Missed this, but was just reading through the blog and I agree that she must be the number one based on this response...

Where will we see COUNTISTER and DAME DE COMPAGNIE next? #RoadToCheltenham

The aim is the Trull House Mares’ for Countister and I’m going to try and find a nice little Mares’ novice for her within the next 10 days or so. Funnily enough Barry Geraghty is coming down to ride out tomorrow morning and I asked him which horses he wanted to ride and he said both of these which is actually quite a good idea as we’ll have a better idea as to Cheltenham targets after he’s had a feel for them. I think we ran Dame De Compagnie too quickly at Cheltenham where she probably ‘bounced’ after her Uttoxeter win having been out in the field for almost a year before and then she got a little sick at home so she’s has had a bit of a rough time of it. She is back 100% now though and will work tomorrow.

I haven't backed Countister, but she has to be shorter than the current price
Laurina 2/1
Maria's Benefit 5/1
Countister 12/1

Are the first 3 definite runners...
Also tempted with 1 pt e/w on Irish Roe just for the price difference.

Not doing badly in this race at the moment but not fantastic.

Laurina 9/1 2 pts e/w
Salsaretta 20/1 (free bets only)
Maria's Benefit 10/1 2 pts win
Mystic Theare 16/1 1 pt e/w
Cap Soleil 10/1 2 pts win
Fayonagh 6/1 4 pts win :grumpy:

I'll be laying Cap Soleil for my stake back hopefully, when Apple's Shakira, Stormy Ireland, Salsaretta etc aren't in the betting anymore.

Not really decided what to do in this race though, probably end up backing quite a lot because I haven't got a strong opinion other than the obvious one that the bookies have latched on to, that Mullins will probably win it!

I was onto Joe Chambers a few days back.

Not going to read too much into this BUT....
Salsaretta has entries in Supreme and Ballymore.
I don't think she will end up in either and I know that Mullins likes to "Block" enter - but SURELY Salsaretta will at least get an entry into the Mares Novice Hurdle...

By no means am I suggesting that we will see Salsaretta at the festival - but surely this gives an ounce of hope? (and no more!)

She will get an entry as they all do who arr available to run. But they're pretty much doing what they did with limini and karalee. Wait for the new novice season instead of sticking her straight in a grade 1 of the back of a setback and no run for a very long time. A gram of hope rather than an ounce

You don't think she'll turn up to the festival then Scooby?

Personally I don't see why she would as Laurina is the one anyway ;-)

I'm still keeping an eye out for Mystic Theatre entries - nothing thus far, i'm getting slightly concerned. Drifting on the exchanges (out to 16's) hopefully it's due to the lack of entries and not an injury!

No iv cashed out full stake om her and mystic theatre for a nice profit which in fairness only covered my previous poor bets on the race. But gives me a free stake on countister.
I'd be 99.5% sure salsaretta dosent go.

Hi Scooby

Latest round of festival entries now on www.irishracing.com.

Salsaretta been given an entry for the Supreme so looks like they haven't completely given up on her yet.

Posted above before reading earlier posts, doh.

Countister has a decent task ahead of her tomorrow ainchea is no mug at all. And we seen what happened to dame de compagnie when she went up against the boys. I'll be very happy if she wins well tomorrow and would feel she'd be going there with claims.
Id Rather find out now if she's good enough than on the day.

I'm hopeful she wins to quell any chance of Apple's Shakira being re-routed.

I haven't backed Countister until a multiple about 10 minutes ago. Likeable though.

Any quotes from Henderson after yesterday's race?

Not that iv seen but id be sure she booked her place. The eventual 2nd was a fair sort. And the faller is a nice horse. Would she have won I don't know she was only just being produced and ainchea would beat most if not all of those in the mares novice hurdle betting imo.
