Looks a competitive race this season without Honeysuckle, will Love Envoi go one better or will it go to one of the 5 year olds heading the betting?

Done a preview for this and will do more for different races over the next few weeks.

Added Jetara @ 48's. 2m is not her trip and JH has said 2m6f at the DRF is the plan (has entry). Good showing there and she comes here IMO at a massive price. Feel like we're dealing with a fundamentally better mare this year. She's jumping and settling much better and winning races easily by wide margins. RPR's of 137, 139 then 143 show she's going in the right direction, and that last run was reportedly on ground she wouldn't have liked. If spring ground brings about more improvement I think she's capable of putting in 150+ which would win this more years than not. Breeding is to die for and barring an underwhelming debut we're dealing with a mare thats 3/3. Nearly 50's just looks completely the wrong price. Ashroe Diamond is 8 times shorter at 6/1 and has never run to a higher level. Jetara ran AD to a length over trip and ground conditions that wouldn't have suited, so IMO little separates those two barring the price. I want to take on Lossiemouth as we haven't seen her and the trip has to be a question mark given how she races. 48's was an exchange price (23's now) so comes with risk but its a case/price that makes sense IMO, especially if you believe Jetara will run well at the DRF. Will be interesting to see how Hills price up the 'to win today and at cheltenham' market.

….i might be entirely imagining it but i thought JH said The Festival is not on Jetara’s agenda.

She said Dublin 2m 6f then Fairyhouse.

But has since entered for the Mares hurdle, so I expect an entry in the Mares Novice when that comes around.

NRNB probably best. was available at 16's for mares novice as you pointed out on your thread. I took that, just in case.

I'd want a bigger price personally for the Mares.

She said: "She was good. She had the experience from last season, and unlike the rest of the family she seems to go on that heavy ground. She's hardy now and a lot stronger. She quickened up great.

"She might get an entry at Christmas, but I don't really want to go for the mares' novice at Cheltenham as it's only two miles. Anything over two and a half is fine and I might even try to find something over three miles in England. If she was to have a spring target, I would prefer the two-and-a-half-mile Grade 1 at Fairyhouse for her."

When asked after the race at xmas if jetara was for sale her owner replied "everything is for sale", and with JP McManus owning her close relative jezki who was also trained by Jessica Harrington, I wouldn't be surprised if he came in for her at some point. if that happened plans could change very quickly.

Yes. Especially with the DRF entries. If she goes close there, then it'd be hard to keep away from Cheltenham.

Thought they were looking at Donny for Gala Marceau, wonder where that leaves her?

All three have entries in the Irish Champion. Wouldn't be surprised to see Lossiemouth prep in that.

That would be interesting to see.
Would go against Willie's bring them on slowly into 5 yr olds season mantra - but you never know.

Thats very a interesting angle. It weird JP has never had a mare place in the mares hurdle much less win it. The one thing I'm sure of is Jetara doesn't want 2m and thats something which has been echoed by JH. I'd love to see JP come in for her.

Wouldn’t she go Mares Novice?

Been won before on second attempt by Concertista

Easier race - albeit 2m, but favours a strong stayer

I don't think so. Been shown up a bunch of times over 2m and seems to relish an intermediate trip. They've said they'll probably go 2m6f at the DRF and I cant see them racing over that trip there, then coming back down to the minimum. It would be unorthodox but given the favourite is MIA the mares novice looks open. There is certainly no Honeysuckle or beast in there and she's on an upward trajectory IMO.

You’d be half thinking the 2m4f grade 1 at Fairyhouse would be top of their priority list. Plenty of time for JP to snap her up then to come back for the Mares next season with some nice black type in the locker.
