...who wants to lay her at best price 9/2?

She divides opinion. Some say she is the next wonder mare with untold potential. Ruby apparently would choose her over Melon and Sharjah. Willie seems to be happy for her to go straight to the Champion Hurdle. The stable are not beginners when it comes to rating a Mare.

Others say she's beaten absolutely nothing. She needs soft ground. Her actual form is worth nothing at all. You 'shouldn't listen to Willie straight after a race'.

So leaving aside those 14/1 tickets or the fact that you don't hold a tasty antepost docket - what would YOU do? Back her to win? Eachway? Without the fav? Or lay, lay, lay the living daylights out of her?

I would back here, I was there today and given both Mullins and ruby travelled across for this one race, says enough for me

If they run here its a fair sign they reckon she's up to it- they've clearly got past CH horses to base her on, however, in saying that i would probably still side with Melon regardless.

I'd be with Melon over her for this season too. Gun to my head I'd have to back e/way but that's because of FOMO more than anything else.

I'm on at bigger.
But 9/2 is way too short for the evidence we have, even though connections give the impression they like her a lot.
I wouldn't be as quick to dismiss her as others though, as to me that's just bravado.

I'd do nothing.

She's not value so I would not back her now

and

I wouldn't lay her at 2/9 because it's I wouldn't back anything at 2/9 ever. **apart from Frankel.

Too short on what she's achieved and she doesn't look like a Champion hurdler to my eye. Easy lay.

Am I right, that everyone saying LAY, has actually done it?

2/9 is a rubbish bet for Laurina not to win the Champion Hurdle. It's just not worth betting on right now.

The answer has to be DO NOTHING?!

I thought it was a hypothetical question - lay or back. Lay is a no brainer.

Fair enough.

I agree :highly_amused:

Aftertime alert!!!! I backed her today at 1/10 in running lol (it paid for tonights curry). She hasnt shown that she is CH standard yet but shes also done little wrong. Her hurdling technique doesnt look the best however and that must be a worry. The division is weak and if Ruby chose her as expected, and it came up soft shes going to go close with a clear round.

It's a yes or no question. But without real consequence's so probably a waste of time.
Hypothetical questions are questions based upon assumed facts or outcomes before they've occured.

Ground has to be a worry. She's big, doesn't look like she wants a 2m hurdle on good ground. Think she'd be found out in those conditions and 9/2 is too short.

Lay

Still think she's more likely to go for the Mares race but even if she were to turn up in the CH,

- Never raced out of Mares company
- Never raced outside novice company (if as Mullins suggests she goes straight to Cheltenham, and I cannot count today's race here)
- Never raced on ground better than today which was Soft (g-s in places) - 4 prior runs had heavy in the description. (Limited knowledge on this aspect but) add in what looks to be prominent knee action - doesn't bode well if we get 'normal' spring ground.
- Never raced against anything like the calibre of horses in a Champion Hurdle let alone Buveur D'Air

Her price is mental. She could do anything. I can see why people still want to take Buveur D'Air on, even more so after the Verdana Blue defeat but there's so much unknown and guesswork with this horse it's crazy. I'm not going to base my judgement on how she jumps off the back of today but if you were also going on the visual impression of today - she didn't look or jump like a champion hurdler either.

The only thing in the back of my mind that makes me think she could do it was Rubys reaction after the race today. But I couldn't touch her. And if she is as good as they think...I cannot see any reason why she's not going to go for the Irish CH in Dublin. 4 weeks from today it would fit perfectly.

900 pts lay at 2/9 for the Champion Hurdle

Back 200 pts on her in the Mares hurdle

Easy game :p

She's a big lay for me. Ruby himself said she looks like a stayer, i just can't see her having the pace in ground with 'good' in the description. There's the obvious danger of soft or desperate ground like last year, but even then on the old course i'd happily take my chances. I'm still not convinced she turns up here, Melon looks the value for me

Hi scooby more of a watcher on here than a poster, but the info is invaluable every year.. anyway .. what are your reasons? Beat nothing as of yet? Will need to be slicker at Cheltenham as BVD pings over the jumps?.. thoughts mate?

All of the above. I just can't consider her a champion hurdle winner at all.

No1. maccaire sold her for €105,000 the man's an unbelievable judge. He sold her ready made to go to the mares novice. I can't believe he sold a CH winner for that.

2. She's beat literally nothing. Not even 1 half decent horse. It's laughable to say she's a superstar.

3 she's only ran on soft/ heavy

4 she's not a slick jumper she spends plenty of time to go from A to B over a hurdle. Not a problem in mares races on soft against poor opposition.
