Kentucky/Guineas Yankee

Can’t stop feeling the Godolphin Yankee is the way to go this year… the tough one to call is the 2000 but as Ancient Truth was the first horse I’ve backed ante post for it and he now seems to be in favour judging by the recent betting moves, I’ve opted for him:
Ken Oaks - Good Cheer
Ken Derby - Sovereignty
2000 - Ancient Truth
1000 - Desert Flower
around 800/1 for the acca

Excellent shout MS :encouragement:

Any thoughts on this years Yankee?
For me , the fillies look strong this year on both sides of the pond. Life of Joy made Zany look very good last night and whilst I’m on at bigger, think 4s is still good value and can see her going off very short if she wins the Ashland in a fortnight. Whereas Precise looks the chosen one in the 1000 Guineas and her form looks rock solid.
More question marks for the colts with Paladin setting the standard for me so far in the US. Over here, Bow Echo and Gewan look the solid pair but also look vulnerable to something special… Will Albert stay and will Aidan have him ready to produce his best? Out of the rest, seen there has been good money for Publish… and Distant Storm still interests me but seen nothing about his wellbeing?

Albert einstein is fav and surely wont stay the trip so has to be something to take him on with

Zavatari won the national stakes
Hawk mountain the futurity (didnt like his head carriage watching the replay)
Gewan won the dewhurst

Last 6 renewals balding has 2 wins, appleby 3 wins. Obreins have generally run like drains.

So Gewan becomes an obvious one at 10/1

To me publish would have beaten bow echo had he not hung badly left at haydock. But id worry about him handling the undulations of newmarket. Hes one id like to see declared for the craven.

Appleby has a few entered

Hidden force has run a couple of times at kempton a little like notable speech

Distant storm was well beaten twice by Gewan. Pulled his chance away in the acomb. Settled better in the dewhurst and looked like he would appreciate the step up to a mile.

I have personally just backed Gewan at 10s and Distant Storm at 16s

May add another depending what gets declared for the craven

Forgot that Balding had won 2 of the last 6, interesting stat FF

Albert Einstein is a sprinter imo, not believing the guff coming out from Aidan.

Aidan's have won this week so maybe they are ahead more than they have been over the past few years.

The concern for Precise is she went over for the BC but was a non runner, they tend to give those who went over to the BC more time off so potentially not ready.

I know, we’ve been here before with these O’Brien non stayers haven’t we. There does seem to be a little more substance to Albert’s potential to stay this time on breeding lines and stride pattern analysis tho. Agree with you that he’s much more likely to be a sprinter but we won’t know for sure until after the race.
Next couple of weeks can obviously change things but the Don McLean interview suggests Precise didn’t get held up too much after the BC and that she is on track for the Guineas and that they see her as a potential Oaks type. Diamond Necklace penciled in for France.

Definitely find out if Albert Einstein is a sprinter or not tomorrow. 7f on Soft to Heavy in a decent looking race will tell us loads.
I have an inkling he really is a freak.

Hes going to need to have matured a lot and learnt to settle to get a mile

Be interesting to see how he gets on

Predictably albert einstein pulled hard and emptied

Was a particularly bad run i thought given the level of opposition. If he was even going to be a top 6f horse youd have wanted to see more than that.

"There was a blip on the computer," he said. "Something happened, the computer went bananas and took out a couple of horses that weren't meant to be taken out.

Fucking multi millionaire.
Should make us all feel better really.

Lets hope Trump doesn't come out with something similar soon (bad enough already, the useless cunt)

Wouldn't be surprised at all if AE went and won. May be completely different ground at Newmarket and he must have been well under cooked at the weekend. Drifted on the day and didn't give him a hard race at all. Won't be the first time one of AOB's makes an extraordinary from it's debut.

Gewan has unfortunately died after suffering an injury on the gallops

Real shame

The guineas has just got murkier and murkier by the day the last few weeks

Albert einstein running like a drain
Gewan unfortunately being put down
Publish having a setback
No impressive trial winners so far
Headscratcher

…..one small e/w ante-post flat bet for me; The Prettiest Star 25-1 (1k Gns) when given a mention by Mark Howard in his column a few weeks ago and again 20-1 yesterday reading Ed Walker stable tour;

THE PRETTIEST STAR

“She is a very exciting filly. After plenty of discussion we felt the best thing to do was give her a racecourse gallop at Newmarket and then go back there for the 1000 Guineas.

“It is the proximity of the trials to the 1000 Guineas as they are a bit tight and that is what made us decide not to take one of those in.

“In her first race she barely came off the bridle and then in the second race she was very professional and street wise on the Rowley Mile in the Rockfel.

“We don't feel like experience is a big thing and she's a very clean winded filly that is generous in her work. We think we can certainly have her ready first time out.

“We are going in there under the radar. She has got the talent and the brain. The biggest question mark is will she get the trip, but she hit the line strong in the Rockfel, and if it was another ten yards she would have won it. Kieran said he struggled to pull her up the hill so it all bodes well for her staying. She is really exciting.”
