July ‘24 Yankee

….any views on Gerri Colombe for GC? Comes out very favourably on Saxon’s updated analysis and an almost certain target. 12-1 available.

Still no sign of MoM, be good to have a volunteer captain on stand-by to make selections at the end of the month.

Gerri C for me too. We haven't included him yet either and I really like the Saxon write up.

Yes agreed. I hadn't realised he wasn't already covered, and he should be.

How about a Robcour Yankee:

Slade Steel (Arkle)
Irish Point (Turners)
Teahupoo (Stayers)
Gerri Colombe (Gold Cup)

Any there any other Robcour horses that we could consider?

Is Irish point confirmed as going chasing?

It must be a while since Gordon had 4 festival winners ?
Willie's dominance would put me off any themed yankee that doesn't involve Willie....

No not confirmed. Gordon said it would be considered after Punchestown. Given there seems little point following the best 2 mile hurdlers around, and they have Teahupoo for the Stayers, I'm happy to work on the basis he goes chasing.

Makes sense just thought I’d missed some news regarding him.

Gerri wont see which way FTF went and for the 2nd season running I'm going to fight for more respect on Fastorslows name :glee: Not his fault he has the softest unseat ever on his formline.

I'd love to see Fastorslow in the Ryanair. It won't happen but I reckon it's the right race for him and he'd win it. I can't see him finishing in the first three in the Gold Cup, because I just don't see him as a thorough stayer. I think three miles is limit and he ideally wants a sharp or flat three miles. A stiff 2m5f round the new course would absolutely suit his style of racing.

….for obvious reasons we haven’t got Ballyburn in any of these yet. I’m in Turners camp (7/2) but a few others, including Spectre make convincing cases for the Arkle (5-1).

A strong possibility he’s a winner wherever he goes, is he too risky to include or maybe Atlantic Viking might take the plunge?

Absolutely worth taking the 5/1 Arkle imo
If he’s considered their best and could probably win any of the nov chases, then why not go for the best race?
No reason that I can see.
Even if he’s considered a Gold Cup prospect he can still take in the arkle en route.

No harm waiting until October, he might lose a little value of course but he has too many options for anyone to have a solid opinion at this stage I'd say.
For what it's worth, I'm on for the BANC....

Can see Ballyburn going the GDC route. Turners and GC the next year.

Does anyone think Wille may be more open about where Ballyburn runs this year compared to last? He could suprise us all and name his target early on in the season?
