JLT Novices 2018

Backed alboum photo today
11/2 ew 1/4 at Fairyhouse.
Looks a very competative race on paper easily as strong as the jlt. Needs a clean round but Id have fancied him tor this race so i have to follow him in.

Following you in there Scooby

11/2 plenty big enough for me to take the chance on him having a clear round

I have shattered love in a boxing Acca from last night but I think invitation only on a clear run does go well.

I've already backed that this morning too.

Surprised Invitation Only is the stable number 1

Mentioned on the daily movers that there's been money for Up for Review, hasn't really been a plunge but looks like they thought 25's was too big, so I'm guessing they think he may sneak a place

That will do jumped adequately but his engine brought him in to the race and allowed him to win. Nice horse.
Invitation only is a good horse with a nice cruising speed and jumping method but he just dosent have a change of gear like alboum photo does.

Will they finally work out ABP is a better horse than IO?

RSA form much stronger than the JLT too?

Shattered Love sould be "Flattered Love" ... :devilish:

Not saying he would have won at all but would like to have seen ABP stay up in the rsa or have another chance at percy. There was a moment where he looked out paced today as he did in the flogas then finds another gear off the bridle. He may well have found something in the rsa, when he fell he was just being galvanised. I'd have liked to have known just how close he'd have finished. but we will never know.
But obviously presenting percy won very well and deserves all credit.

3 spring festival winers out of the flogas so far, dosent look a bad race.

Bit harsh on Shattered Love there Kev; if she winged the last she’d have probably won imho

A nice boost to Presenting Percy's form too.

Well done ABP backers

He might have finished second Scooby but PP had already flown by the time ABP came down imo.

The Flogas has been the best novice chase outside of the festival, without doubt.

Yes I'd agree I'd be confident he wouldnt have won but just how well he would of stayed on would have interested me with regards to whether he's an outside chance of being a gold cup prospect himself. I'd have thought ABP will be back at 3 miles for his next start.

At this stage for next seasons open grade 1s ie lexus/ Irish gold cup. he needs to improve his jumping .

It was tongue in cheek...

however I do think the JLT was a much weaker race, and Monalee, Al Boum Photo would both have won the race IMO if they'd have contested the JLT.

I wanted ABP in the JLT from quite a way out, so it was bittersweet backing him yesterday.

Cheers Scoobs also followed you in on reading this and after backing him in the RSA. Only put him in some small e/w doubles for the National, but nice all the same.

Just to note that, for those who think this was a weak race:
Shattered Love (1st) came second in a G1
Terrefort (2nd) won a G1
Kemboy (4th) won a G3
Finians Oscar (5th) won a G1
Bigmartre (7th) won a G2
Invitation Only (PU) 3rd in a G1

Compare to RSA:
Elegant Escape (3rd) 3rd in G1 13l behind Terrefort
Ballyoptic (4th) 2nd in Scottish National
Black Corton (5th) 4th in G1 31l behind Terrefort
Al Boum Photo (F) won G1 ahead of Shattered Love
Allysson Monterg (P) 3rd in novice handicap
Dounikos (P) PU in Irish National

I still believe that the RSA was the stronger race Archie.

The HUGE difference betwenen those two lists, and the reason they are NOT a fair, or particularly reflective of how winnable the race was, is that the 1st and 2nd from the RSA (Presenting Percy and Monalee) haven't had a run yet.

I'd have fancied either to beat Terrefort at Aintree, and I am confident PP and Monalee will end up better horses. (Well, they are already)

My point was Al Boum Photo or Monalee would have found the JLT easier to win... so the JLT was weaker, as the 2nd from the RSA on a line through Al Boum Photo, who beat the winner, would all have had the race covered.....and Presenting Percy is just much better than them all.
