JLT Novices 2018

Also shattered love will be prominent setting the pace here

Jlt

Invitation only
Shattered love
Modus
Finians Oscar
Benatar
Big martre
Kemboy
Testify.
Terrefort (only on soft)
Sutton place (unlikely)

That's your jlt field.

I think Testify may end up in the Close Brothers Handicap.

Shattered love invitation only on the pace.

She will outstay IO up that hill IMO.

Hopefully you took the 25/1 ew shattered love. :)

I've just checked and the best price I got on at was 20's with Billy. I'm on Sutton Place at 25 and 50's. Here's hoping. Shattered Love with relish the conditions and trip. IMO.

I must admit to having a genuine belief that the Flogas was a very competitive and well contested graded novice chase that was well up to the usual standard. It achieved the average class pars but it was n't an above average race. The proximity of all the runners easily identifies this. The HRI OR's awarded confirms it. The eyecatchers? Only Monalee. Snow Falcon is a solid marker and regularly runs his race . He is a GD.3 class horse at best. Monalee is a progressive type who will potentially be competitive in open company beyond his novice campaign . He'll finish second to PP.

Should be on RSA thread .

Lol, I think your auto spell check must have went wrong, it should have said in front not second to PP..

I have Sutton Place clear of this field so I hope that he runs. If not I think that Shattered love will win this for Gordy.

Did look at Shattered love, my worry was it's only raced at Cheltenham once and was well beaten.. some horse just don't like travelling outside of Ireland.

She didn't act on the going. Travelled over alright enough last time.

But she's won on G/Y and Yielding To Soft the pass 5 months and also soft & heavy and cheltenham it was G/S, so what ground does she need?

Gordon says he ran her once too many. They wasnt sure of the best way to ride her
He's learned from that, shes strengthened uo, chasing is her game and the festival has very much been her target this year. She will be prominent at the front.

Its not the ground. If it was she'd be nowhere again. As it will likely be the same ground on Thursday imo.

When you narrow it down that JLT field looks awful; the Novice handicap will take more winning!

I think it looks a tricky race the jlt. I'd be stuck if I wasn't already on.

The novice handicap certainly will, theres not many that wouldn't have a chance, and a big field at that. Like henderson said they all think they've been clever.

Embaressingly iv got 6 of them
Invitation only 33s
Modus 20s
Benatar 14/1
Shattered love 25/1ew
Finians Oscar 9/1 :grumpy:
Sutton place 25/1

Monalee 10/1 ew nrnb
Willoughby court 16/1 NR
Death duty 20/1 NR

Made a fair few quid laying off monalee 90.0 80.0 in this at under 9.0 though which well covers the NR's

Invitation only
Modus
Finians Oscar
Benatar
Shattered love

Have the top 4 above covered and will probably leave it at that and possibly look to have a punt in running for this. Shattered Love will be prominent but can see her getting outpaced up the hill. Finian's Oscar you'll know where you stand after 3 or 4 fences. Modus would be the one who would interest me for a go in race - if he's within touching distance at the second last and travelling well then i'd fancy he might have too much toe for anything else. Invitation Only would be a good winner for me but don't fancy him at all now for win purposes

When did Ruby say that? Before the race on RTE he was saying it was the best novice chase of the season by far! He also said this on the Paddypower site: "Having said that, however strong we think we are in the Mullins yard, when you throw in Sutton Place and Monalee – this is some race!"

That would be a big change of opinion with no subsequent evidence to refute his original one!

I wouldn't be so quick to knock it just because they finished within a few lengths of each other. These are all good horses and next week may well prove it, particularly when Snow Falcon hoses up in whichever race he decides to dominate!:devilish:

Walsh does a weekly debrief on RUK. I did comment elsewhere that it is very rare for him to criticise a race involving runners from his 'own stable'.

Finnians Oscar after a wind op and will wear cheekpieces; smells of desperation doesn’t it?

Joe Tizzard said they schooled him before the snow hit and they were sure he just kept looking at the horse next to him rather than concentrating on jumping the fence. If cheek pieces sharpen up the jumping then he will be there or there abouts at the finish.

The Tizzard book of Finians Oscar quotes this season would make the Grimm Brothers blush.

This race has confused me all Winter, and I’m almost embarrassed to admit this, but I’m starting to come round to the chances of FO...

Still my biggest winner in this race Finians. I try not to let myself believe but the Tizzard stable form probably suggests that FO’s best run of the season is upcoming. Given that would be good enough to beat Benatar this year even, he wouldn’t be a shock winner. Last season he would have been the best of this bunch so hard to think he’s regressed that much, even given his ridiculous campaigning
