JLT Novices 2018

Demi Sang a left field chance in this at 33/1? Winner of a chase over 18f in France. Although he may follow a similar route to Great Field and skip Cheltenham altogether.

Willie mentioned the Arkle in his post race interview on Sunday.

Must admit I was thinking of the 2 1/2m Novice Handicap on Tuesday when he won.

Cheers CCM, I can't see him having much of a chance against Footpad. Close Brothers could be a good shout, unless he gets absolutely shafted by the English handicapper. But you'd imagine theres no way they could justify anything above 145 even if he hacks up on his next start, unless its a Grade 1 that is. His next run should be very informative.

With Death Duty out I wonder if there is a greater likelihood of Finians Oscar running here instead of the RSA? Whilst I don't think he would beat W.Court unless he somehow rectifies his jumping I still think this is the right race for him and he has been very poorly campaigned/managed by Tizzard this year.

I'm just hoping he'll turn up at the Festival so I can lay most if not all of my any race stake that I placed before seeing him jump a fence

I think so. Tizzard did say that Sizing Tennessee is an RSA horse too. Same connections. Elegant Escape looks made for the NH Chase over 4 miles so I think Finian's should turn up here....

I find it hard to be enthused about him, complete u-turn unfortunately but no standout at the moment. Willoughby Court isn't bulletproof - needs spring ground and an uncontested lead - my idea of the winner still though

FO prob end up in the 4 miler :highly_amused:

Anyone got any thoughts about Invitation Only for this, to me the race looks wide open and hes entered up again over 2m 4f this weekend 20/1 is very tempting before he runs this weekend. Be grateful for peoples take on this. Cheers

I backed for the RSA at 33/1 earlier in the season ... I'm thinking that Al Boum Photo will be Ruby's ride in the JLT - and the NRNB is only 9/1 for this race as far as I can see (or 10 if PP are now).... that puts him 10/1 for both races... which to me means they have no idea....

I guess you know the risk .... I felt he was held by DD over the 2m4f distance.... unfortunately that isn't an issue now?

Im with Kev... I've backed IO for the RSA and hopeful that will be his race.

Think Willie would often run his RSA horses over 2m4f in their novice season anyway? Al Boum Photo as Ruby's ride for the JLT.

That Alboum Photo has improved rapidly throughout this season , improving at rate of knots and could be little underestimated by some bookies. JLT looks the likely race but you second guess "Our Willie" at your peril lol.

He was a graded horse last season and always looked a chaser, he's done nothing that I wouldn't have expected him to do so far. Same with the storyteller, neither has done much but both have Gone about there work nicely. He (the story teller) was far better than his winning margin on debut he made ground at every fence then was restrained back. He was only asked to do anything at all after the last . If he can get handicapped he's a serious horse. They may have higher aspirations.

Was The Storyteller the one Elliott was really bullish about on the preview panels about his best handicapped horse before getting ruled out... then had Runfordave anyway?

Yes thats the one. Hes a good horse. And an excellent jumper of a fence. Travels picks up when you ask him. Hes got everything.

I'm shocked that footpad is 2/1 Fav for this race with 365. Most places offering around 10s

That’s purely because it’s NRNB Geordie.
thought as much mate, but was surprised as can't remember it being near front of this market and 2/1 is just crazy in my opinion when other firms 10s
