J.L.T Novices Chase 2019

Just re-watched the Dipper and was quite impressed with Defi Du Seuil myself. Jumped probably the best he has jumped a fence in a race at pace, he looked the likely winner, and probably traded pretty short on the run in, and unlike some, I do think the 3lb he had to give was significant. He is only a small horse, compared with one like Lostintranslation, so to carry any additional weight would have an impact IMHO.

Do you not think that Geraghty went for him a little too soon too? He was still travelling the stronger and I felt he could have left him alone a bit longer, still led at the last and then quickened from there.

Could well have to. A solid performance overall, either way though.

I'm sure he'll find a quicker pace / bigger field more advantageous too, as he likes to travel, as he did during his juvenile hurdle days.

He jumped to the front when LIT made that mistake but I am sure he will next time. To be fair I dont think anyone expected DDS not to see it out based on Triumph hurdlers being stayers argument often mentioned on here by Istabraq. Having already cashed out a few DDS Arkle tickets and Le Richebourg JLT ones I hope they dont switch them.

mmm... fingers crossed then

Will connections take the view with DDS that he was slightly done for stamina at the trip ... and after leaving his chasing debut behind, a drop in trip to a strong run Arkle would suit?

I am on at any race and would prefer Arkle.

IMO, his jumping has improved, yeah, but not enough to go with them in an Arkle. Time will tell though.

I'm on at 28-1 arkle, so have slight preference for that, and reckon Hobbs would want arkle ideally, given the improvement.
But I'm not overly fussed to be fair.

I'd normally agree with that but who's gonna run away from them, nothing stands out yet.

As it stands, you are correct, not much to take them along at pace, but then again that would also go against DDS. Think he needs a strong pace, also think too quick a pace over 2m fences is too much for him. He'll be done like Finian's Oscar was. Good luck with your nice prices though.

Campeadour will end up in one of these two I imagine but most likely scenario for JPs is still Le Richebourg Arkle & DDS JLT. Still have a few lines the other way round but thought Joseph sounded totally committed to 2 mile route.

Only evidence we've seen on the track that he could do with further is his bizarre balloon like and slow jumping, which appear to be lessening. But yes, a strong pace will help, which is likely anyway, given the arkle nearly always is, due to the excitement of everyone.

Think JP will let trainers and jockeys decide.

Absolutely micro-managed by Frank Berry.

It's why you employ a racing manager.

Totally agree Kev, I think The Arkle is the call but what do I know. He wouldn't win this in my mind.
