J.L.T Novices Chase 2019

Got smashed to pieces by Voix Du Reve over a trip too short for the pair of them I suspect. I don't see the form being turned around for any reason.

Big Voix Du Reve fan, hope he comes here over the Arkle.

I suspect Hardline would have to come here really, Mengli Khan looks like the number 1 for the Arkle.

Smashed to pieces??? hardline got a bit tired on the run-in. VDR had fitness advantage.

As for VDR, I can't have a horse winning at the festival thats been running all year. If they put him away now that might be different.

Hardline will be a different horse come March Imo.

What fitness advantage? Both horses had run and won convincingly within 40 days of them meeting, so that's a complete fabrication.

I agree about him running for the best part of a year, but he hasn't been chasing all year, he's been kept ticking over, over hurdles, I do think they now need to put him away for a bit, however, the key to his recent success' may well be that he needs to keep racing, only connections will know that.

Hardline is a good horse, but I am not convinced he'll be Gigginstown's number one for any of the novice chases myself.

Vinndication:

Will be a shame if he skips what looks a winnable race at Cheltenham in favour of Ascot. If that happens i'd say it's almost certain he won't be festival bound

Hey Jono, do you still believe that even though Vinndication likely skipped Cheltenhem on this occasion because of the ground he won't be heading to the Festival? In slight contradiction to the trainer's comments I was told earlier in the week (via one of the owners) they were very much hoping to run at Cheltenham as long as there was rain. So as there wasn't any I'm not overly concerned of any link between this decision and not targeting the Festival.

Kim insisting its ground dependent doesn't make it much of an antepost proposition. Getting his excuses ready.

Angels Breath pulled today for the same reason, does it make him any less likley to turn up in March? I get the concerns and obviously if it's a good ground in March you'd be a little worried, but can't help but feel they are being exaggerated a little after he missed the Festival this year, on the face of it least due to sore shins. Anyway being on with 365 lessens the risk of course

Quickish ground going downhill isn't great if there's a history of sore shins.

Yeah no issues with the risk of him not running due to good ground, as the trainer wanting him to run on soft is not new. Was just wondering if Jono had other reservations that him missing Cheltenham this weekend indicated that I was not spotting

COD,
I'd say 6 or so runs to 1 run is a fitness advantage. Running a horse all year does NOT fit a profile of a festival winner.
As for hardline not being Giggi's number 1? that wouldn't bother me in the least.

I’m certainly not taking Vinndication’s deflection from Cheltenham tomorrow as total negative against his likelihood of lining up next March RC. I’d see him even having the entry as a slight positive tbh.

If I was KB I’d have done the same for the horses well-being, no point risking him on genuine good ground when he can take up his Ascot entry next week on more a suitable surface, I genuinely do think he would have lined up tomorrow had the rain come earlier.

Whatever ground it is will be wrong for the horse (sigh) don't you just love flakey trainers.

Flakey is probably a bit harsh doc, you can understand a lesser yard being overly protective with a good-un. They don’t grow on trees! He’s only got best interests at heart.

Agree 100%

I've backed Vinndication a/r, but won't moan if he doesn't turn up.

It is what it is, and they're far more invested in the horse than I.

Cash out is there with 33’s best priced 365, safety blanket there if needed! The entry tomorrow was a positive in my eyes, Kim rightly probably trying to keep a lid on expectations, but can’t keep him wrapped in cotton wool forever.

I understand it but don't agree with it. Horses are very fragile. Take the chance while they are fit and well.

I've backed also but i'm fairly sure it wont turn up and will use cash out at some point.

It’s a risk worth taking in March boopa, but why roll the dice in December unnecessarily?

I don't have an issue with it now but it will be the same excuses in March.

Should make q better chaser than hurdler.

After race at*Fairyhouse Mon, 2nd Apr, 2018 (1st)**You can probably take it that he’d have won coming down the hill at Clonmel the last day! He was just unfortunate the last day falling on the flat. He had a little pin-prick cut in his knee that went right into his knee and took a while for him to recuperate. He looks a horse with an engine and one to look forward to over fences next season. He’ll go to Punchestown and it’s great to see the Hurricane Fly colours back in the winners’ enclosure again.**W P Mullins

CE has 2 entries including one over 2m 3f @ Limerick, same race as Getabird, possible step up in trip for CE?

Don't think so personally. He's always had the entry just block entries. Travelled well and Diddnt stay 2 1/2 on his 1 try.

Don't suppose someone could try and request Bet365 & PP to get Cilaos Emery added to their JLT markets on the website?

I've only been offered CE over the phone and Bet365 have not even offered a price, which is unlike them.
