Interestingly not FM. The only horse that has drifted was Ballyadam, who was clipped into 7/1 from 9/1 then pushed back out to 9/1 again. Was disappointed Run Wild Fred didn't drift after the weekend. I am hoping more will as the season progresses.

Champion Bumper 5th Eskylane blue across the board today for supreme.

Champion Bumper 5th Eskylane blue across the board today for supreme.

Starts off tomorrow at 2 miles using the race as a stepping stone for the Royal Bond so that may be why the money is coming for the Supreme. (that is according to Gordo's stable tour).

Tipped for Supreme today as well I believe

Yep, knew I wasn't going mad. He doesn't pinpoint Supreme but he does mention him in same light as Abacadabras i.e. needing to fast run race so that he can cruise in behind without burning energy like he did in Bumper. He travelled great in that but had nothing left due to wanting to do too much.

Did he have nothing left or was he one paced and needs further?

This is what I posted in mid April and the only change I’ve had is that I think the Ballymore could come into the equation now but definitely not the Supreme.

Eskylane - Gordon Elliott - Albert Bartlett
Although I originally only wanted to take Ferny Hollow and Appreciate It out of the Champion Bumper, I think Eskylane ran a great race on later reflection. He’d have preferred to have been up with the pace but got left at the start. He travelled well into the home straight but did not have the pace of the front two and plugged on for fifth. By Flemensfirth he’s going to be better over further and obstacles.

Based on him starting slowly and almost being rushed up into the race, then looking a bit keen, I'd say the former. Stronger run race like the Supreme always is will suit him better. He could easily mirror what Aba did last season. I've only backed him TWAR currently but am slowly talking myself into betting him for the opener. It just fits.

If you like stats then find a Flemensfirth progeny who has won the Supreme. He’s been one of the most prolific and longest serving sires in NH but I don’t think he’s sired the winner or even had many place either.

With the exception of the bumper run his profile is plenty different from that of Abacadabras.

Eskylane will be 7 years of age, an age that doesn't have a great record in the Supreme, he has also had (including PTP's) 8 runs to date, that's quite a significant amount of runs already in his career for a potential Supreme Novice Hurdle winner, he is also by Flemensfirth, who is yet to sire a Supreme winner, as far as I'm aware, and he's sired a hell of a lot of horses to date!

Aba was always a speed ball so other than being trained by Elliott and running in the bumper, that’s where the comparison ends in my eyes. Until the recent stable tour, most quotes about Eskylane involved the words “galloping” and/or “stayer”.

Don't mention the ballymore 7yo stat either, Ab it is !

The "you-need-a-stayer-to-win-the-Supreme" fan club won't be disappointed though :highly_amused:
