Handicap Shortlist - Cheltenham 2020

One I’m keeping an eye on for a handicap is Imperial Aura.

Was entered today at Huntingdon over 2m 4f but obviously was abandoned. Has not too bad form in the book second to Pym at Cheltenham beaten eight lengths after winning over 3m on debut. Sure he needs another run but Close Brothers could be the aim over 2m 4f
 
Just checked 365 and he’s 25/1 for the Close Brothers.

Best any race I can see is 20/1 with sky.

I think he could be very competitively handicapped look at what tobefair has done since, when he lines up im sure he will be a few lbs lower than tomorrow and hes going close with luck in running.

Good point on tobefair to be fair.
But him being a few pounds lower would take some explaining.

Will likely need to run well to get a mark for the Close Brothers, but would be of interest too if able to do so.

Champagne Mystery also one I am keeping a close eye on, currently 144, so wouldn't want much more movement on that, the Hemmings colours not unfamiliar with a handicap winner, so he goes into the notebook. 33/1 he is currently.

Im trying to get hold of a friend of my brothers who has a share in Imperial Aura to find out his target, Keep you posted.

Im with you though on the Close Bros and I also like Sammy Bill what is due out tomorrow at Kempton.

Hold the note out again tomorrow JM and money again for it. Was unlucky last time out at Kempton, hopefully he does the business tomorrow. 33’s + boost at Hills, 25’s at 365 for Close Bros.

Another run similar to his last should do it no problem imo.

As long as he pontentially doesn’t hose up and get put up too much, he’s currently 136 OR I think.

Based on the pre-race quotes below it seems they’re definitely considering the Close Brothers without saying so. There are 4 horses in the race between 140-142 so if he runs well off levels he could get the rating boost he needs to increase his mark from the current 133.

I he was mega unlucky at Kempton Boxing Day and has been on my mind for the Clos Bros since. 33/1 (plus bonus) appeals but I'm going to wait and see what happens today.

Like the Channon chasers had high hopes for Glen Forsa in the Close Bros last year but went too high in ratings
Bet LTO at Kempton and would like to think would have had a say at the business end
Let’s hope incident free run today and see as you say what happens

It was a long way out but he had got into a great rhythm. I can't bring myself to back him ahead of today's race but I'll have a bet slip loaded just in case he is a real eye catcher.
 
Morning chaps, have to say handicapping is not my forte and I don’t really understand the qualifying races and marks required.

I’ve had Speak Easy noted since his novice hurdling debut and always fancied he’d make a half decent chaser. He finished 3rd on chase debut and is in a Grade 3 in Ireland tomorrow and is up against City Island. I’ve got the impression he would be brought along gradually over fences and his debut was a solid start.

What will happen ratings wise if he finishes second or third in a Grade 3?
