Handicap Shortlist - Cheltenham 2020

One I've been passed on is Ilikedwayyourthinkin, could be one for the Martin Pipe

Be interesting to see where Tedham goes at the festival

Tedham is a bit of a handicap darling but has yet to land the big prize everyone is expecting. He finished well over 3m at the weekend and got pushed up another 3lbs to 133. He'll probably need a higher rating than that to make the cut in any of the Festival handicaps though and I guess the Pertemps could be an option given his recent run.

I guess the question is; is he well handicapped or a perennial bridesmaid when at the top table?

You took the words right out of my mouth Jackie. Tedham been a talking horse for a while now, but I think he's just not quite as good / well handicapped as everyone thinks.

Anybody heard anything about Defi Bleu? Could see it having another crack at the Martin Pipe if all is well

...as I posted yesterday, in his Sporting Life column, Mark Howard says Tedham is a likely type for the Pertemps (and Cloth Cap for the Kim Muir).

Pretty sure someone on here said he's out for the season, though don't take my word as gospel until it is confirmed.

Scooby

Do you know anything about this French recruit of Venetias tomorrow in
The 1245? Fanion d’Estruval

Just seen this,
I wasnt expecting that, anyway.

Easy for me to say now, but he obviously had the experience advantage over a couple there. I didn't back him today though.

Same sire as Binocular, which I've just found out. His breeding is actually up there.

He was in the arkle betting early, but then got shuffled back. Probably on back of trainer who got him (not my opinion).

He did only win off a mark of 130 (with his age allowance taken into account), but he did it well, and this race has thrown up runners in the arkle before.
Looked like good ground would suit, possibly a flatter track too with the way he hurdled them.

Is Uradel still in training?

Fav for the Coral Cup last year. Not seen since.

No entries.

One I'll hopefully keep an eye on as soon as markets are formed! Would have been fav for whichever race they put him in..... always like the returning fav 'plot' after a big gamble goes south.

Off you go opened up 33s yday and had some real late money to go off 5/1 today, held every chance before falling at the last. Defo one to keep on eye on going forward as could run over a variety of trips too, expect nto to just trot round and get that 3rd run under his belt now:devilish:

“I thought he was entitled to do that and it’s just a relief that he has it done, said winning trainer Tony Mullins.

“We are thinking now if he recovers well we might go to Carlisle on Sunday 15th for a Pertemps Qualifier. It might be an easier qualifier as the one in Leopardstown is a grueller.

“The man who bought him for me, Bernard Cullinan, said you will only see the best of him in real heavy ground so I hope he’s right. He’ll get a fair whack for that but he needs it to get into where we are thinking of going. You can’t have it every way.

“He’s had 23 runs and only one win off 102 over hurdles so it’s a relief that he’s won. They won’t let a (Flat) maiden with his rating into the race in Saudi Arabia but Cheltenham will do us
