Handicap Shortlist - Cheltenham 2020

Gone through previous handicap hurdle favs at the festival, particularly the county and the coral, and all the short ones have been running on the flat, in the November handicap.

Whether that being for willie, Gordon or charles Byrnes, there's countless examples and they're obvious horses. Right now they'll be priced up at 33s any race. Ask for them to be priced up in January onwards and they'll be spotted straight away.

With that in mind

Buildmeupbuttercup
Great white shark (33s)
Saglawy
Stratum

Are all worth adding to the any race market with hills, if anyone has time in the near future. Id have preference for buildmeupbuttercup in particular to be able to go well in a handicap beforehand and get her mark up a little as uradel did last year

Shed have got in the martin pipe last year.

In fact I'll go as far to say.
Buildmeupbuttercup Martin pipe 5/1<

Ciel de neige now owned by JP. Is dangerously handicapped too.

I’ve sent a request to Hills to price up Build Me Up Buttercup, Salagwy and Stratum has n Messanger so I’ll let you know if and when they confirm. They did ignore my request for Unexpected a few days ago though

Buttercups finish wouldn’t excite me in her races...travels like a travelly thing then gets beat too often

Very fair, but shes progressed massively on the flat (102). so id like to think she could achieve alot more than she has to date over hurdles (128) however theres alot of big money handicaps pre chelt. So will be interesting to see how she fares. I reckon she'll be well found in the market whatever handicap she turns up in.

Thanks. BMUBC 25s I'll want to see her run beforehand first.

If she went straight to chelt she'd be very short, but unlikely they would do so.

One from the November Hcap for Mullins is Royal Illusion, 3 runs in bumpers last year., one at Cheltenham behind The Glancing Queen, running decent races on the flat since, could be one to keep an eye on at the turn of the year

She'd need to race quite a bit which wouldn't be like Willie to get a mark. I'd imagine she'd be one for the mares novice if she goes over.

First Assignment - Various Handicap Chases
I was banging his drum for the Pertemps Hurdle early on last season and I think he'll be in the mix for something over fences this season too. He only managed 9th in the Pertemps in the end and possibly the ground took the edge off him for that race. He'd previously won twice at Cheltenham and had good from in behind Paisley Park and Shades Of Midnight.

he made his chase debut on desperate ground at Cheltenham over 2m4f in a race won by Slate House. He goes again today at Ludlow in another competitive race that he can 'avoid' winning. He currently has a mark of 141 so that brings in the Close Brothers race although he may need to go back up to 3m.

IIRC didn't someone on here point out beaten handicap favs coming back and doing well the following year?

Not a nice fall from First Assignment, hoping for the best news, but fear the worst :sorrow:

He's passed, apparently.

Brio Conti another who is no longer with us that may have been fancied in March.

WHen they're over looked in the market.

Yes, it was an excellent few posts.... profitable too for whoever posted it :devilish:

Thomas Darby for the Grand Annual perhaps or maybe not with his jumping today. Maybe go back hurdling and have a tilt at the County.

Think Thomas Darby is crying out to be stepped up in trip, bit of strange placing yesterday running on a tight speed track, hes run there twice now and been 3rd both times in small fields. Id run him at galloping track over 2m 4f minimum trip. I accept that both runs his jumping hasnt been perfect though.
