Gordon Elliott 2020 Handicap Performances

Every Gordon Elliott horse entered in a handicap could end up a plot.

Yeah that’s probably the case but Braid Blue did race at Cheltenham last October and finished 2nd behind Champagne Wells in a class 2 novice hurdle. He’s not raced since so not sure if he’s been injured??

A lot of Gordon's handicap 'plots' are just campaigned in top class races and they finish well beaten..... they gain valuable experience, racing at a proper pace, and then when he starts turning the cogs ready to peak in Cheltenham, they arrive with a certain level of improvement and capitilise on their experience in Graded Races or behind Graded Class horses....

That is how I'd be searching for his plots anyway... so a bit early to tell until you see how the form works out. First view of Braid Blue, 4th of 6, beaten 17L by a 125 rated horse over hurdles isn't eye-poppingly good, but lots of time to pass yet.

I wasn’t even looking at horses for the Cheltenham Festival this time last year and now I’m scanning the race cards daily for handicap plots of Gordon Elliot 8 months out :highly_amused:

Do any of you lot need a job ?? We are hiring here at Gordon Elliott's stable for capable riders and yardstaff if interested. Apply to office@gordonelliottracing.com

Lobos, are you indeed employed by Mr G Elliott?!? If so, you are a leg end!!

Unfortunately not, but he is recruiting. It would be great to have a mole in his yard !

Well I think KevLoaf is Kev Blake!! Very insightful and a joy to learn from.

Wouldn’t it be great if a few of us could just meet up somewhere that’s convenient for everybody and have an evening together talking horses/betting plans?? I’d love that idea to be somehow conceivable.

A Fat Jockey videoconference preview night would be a very good idea.

I've hosted and contributed to a few local preview nights and they've been good fun. The key is to do it as late as possible, and to have the handicaps as the main focus. Everyone is already already fully committed to the other races, and the preview circuit talk about nothing else.

If there's genuine interest I'd happily organise something just for us.

This can certainly be looked in to... it could potentially be superb.

I’d be up for that Spec

There are probably at least a dozen candidates but 3 that may be worth keeping an eye on are
One Down
Fantasio D'Alene (form with Uhtred)
Favori De Champdou (form with Keskonrisk)

The last one had a PtP RPR of 89 so may have scope for jumps and a trip.

One Down just won his maiden at Gowran, Didn't jump the best but stuck his neck out at the finish. The second is also one to keep an eye on. Both could end up decent types.

It might be a good idea for us to go back and check all of Gordon's handicap runners last season and check what races they started in.

I like doing that as sometimes you can spot a plot.

As Quevega pointed out in his diary, and mug can do that now......

So Muggins here will do that next week.

It may overlap with the excellent thread SW has already started too in the members section.

Good man. Hopefully we can nail every handicap this way and get them all in a super Yankee and retire on the proceeds.
