Could be one of those runs that says one too many?
Kitzbuhel just done one.
Always a chance of that happening this time of year, why I dont really bother betting at this meeting.

Punchestown Festival is notorious for it isn't it. Wise people keep their money in their pocket for this Festival. The first two G1's have made that decision for me. I'm out. It's basically an end of season free for all and all Spring form goes out the window. As you say a step too far for many. Especially novices.

Not one for slating jockeys and even less so amateurs but that ride from Paddy in the bumper beggared belief, what an earth was he thinking 😂

He was on the second best horse in the race and he finished second. It's a 4yo bumper and the filly is likely bought to be a chaser.

Game of opinions and i’m not so sure. Swap track position on the first and second and i’d surprised if that result isn’t reversed.

Was almost out on the chase track for a lot the race down the back and just before turning in, must have thought he had Faugheen underneath him!

Yeah its a watching brief for me these days

Though its barely worth watching unless you are a cross county and bumper enthusiast

As you say, game of opinions but my view would be that, on his run around the course before racing, Patrick would have assessed how watering had affected the ground across the width of the track and decided that the best ground for an unraced 4yo was towards the outer. He did, after all, ride the winner in the last race in the same way and that one finished like a train after appearing to be struggling down the back straight.
It's very fashionable on here to have a go at him but his principal role of introducing young horses to racing is probably more difficult than getting the ride on a string of G1 horses.

Interesting from Willie with the Stayers Hurdle in mind....

"I’m not sure what way we’re going to go in the Stayers’. Teahupoo will be hard to beat, whatever we run.

We have four left in it: ABSURDE, JIMMY DU SEUIL, KAWABOOMGA and JADE DE GRUGY.

We’re looking at an end-of-season experiment to see have we got one good enough for a staying hurdle campaign next year."

🤔

….Hills WTAF; JDS 150-1; Kawaboomga 80-1

Brilliant again from Gaelic. He looks a different horse now. If he reappears in the same form next season then he'll be very hard to knock off his perch.

He was totally dominant today and looked sensational. Result was never in doubt. Townend looked confident from the off and just breezed motionless passed FtF. I'd say JP won't be in a rush to go to the Gold Cup in 2027 with FtF. Early Super Yankee - Lossiemouth Champion Hurdle, Il Etait Temps QMCC, Wodhooh Mares Hurdle, Fact to File Ryanair and Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup. Simple game eh ! ;););)
