Loved being at Cheltenham on Tuesday, there make some great improvements around the course - most noticeably being able to take your drinks out and about.
However, I switched off after the Turners Novices. You, like everyone involved with the sport, spend so much time and effort in the run up to Cheltenham - which starts as soon as 5-6 months out for some. And then….. false start after false start… it completely ruins the anticipation up to the start, it’s like VAR.
I feel for some of the owners and trainers who’s horses never had a chance due to these starts
Instead of jumping back onto my laptop to look at tomorrows card, I’m waiting the Golf.
Fact To Fact’s withdrawal baffles me. If it’s that bad withdraw your other horses. Aintree and Sandown would have been quick firm ground last year (the year where it didn’t rain) but Willie still sent his squad over to win the trainers championship
Some of my mates who aren’t into the sport but like to throw a few quid and watch the racing this week, commented on the false starts and how frustrating they are, and bad it looks
I don’t have the answer. Aware the ground was quick and we had big fields (that’s a huge plus this year), but this needs to be reviewed. I.e don’t have the field jogging in from a furlong out, ensure there soace to allow the field to line up after a even or even better don’t start around tbe bend. Don’t know… all I do know is, it needs improving. Throw in two pace makers for the first furlong. Drones. Two guys walking along with the tape between them. What ever, just need it sorting out
Anyway. Back to the golf
