My best guess is you mean the Boxing Day, Limerick race

Won by Band of Outlaws as a random one that popped in to my head

Thanks. I had a feeling it was nearer the festival but you are probably right. I think it pays to follow the placed horses?

Can anyone tell me where and when the race that the Fred Winter horses all trial in is please? It's thrown up loads of winners of the race over the years. Ireland, of course.
Thanks.

It's at Naas on Saturday I believe.

Why is it Paul Nicholls hasnt had a genuine grade 1 horse in years. He always gets these horses like regents stroll, Kalif Du Berlais who at first threaten to have the potential, but deep down you just know they will fall short. He obviously does a great job with the horses he has, but whats the deal here.

I don't know :concern:

Would have to have something to do with relationships with owners I suppose - unable to keep big spenders happy? Relative to other trainers

Times change, he was the absolute Daddy when I got in to the sport .... since then the power has shifted over to Ireland and he's maybe not adapted as well as others have?

He's not really winning big Saturday races anymore either... it's kind of sad, although never met the man so others may be better placed to say :loyal:

One major reason is that Tom Malone buys a lot for him and he's utter shite at his job compared to Kirk and the ones buying for Henderson.

It's in my Irish Race Planning Diary for February delsie777

The race only started in 2018, and in its last 6 runnings, 4 Boodles winners have ran in it, with 3 winning.

●Band of Outlaws - Won
●Aramix - Won
●Brazil - Won
●Jazzy Matty (was 4th in it)

Then they all Won the Boodles next time out.

Leopardstown have drf weekend tickets for next year on offer on their website until 23rd February for £60. Just got them myself.

Racing post……
Its time to ask if the Cheltenham Festival would be improved for the removal of the Turners Novice Hurdle??!!

What do we think?

I personally would.
Then they must also make the Pipe for novices only.

I can see why they haven't because there are probably still a decent enough influx into the hurdles ranks each year, but this looks like declining. And the quality is predominantly in Ireland with Mullins.

If they decide to keep it then one thing they should do is Change the bumper and bumpers in general to 5 years old and younger as this would help stave off the need to remove the race, for the time being at least.

Not sure myself, but i tend to lean towards it being a good thing?
But I guess once the talk starts and the fact they do tend to keep looking to change things , suggest it could happen.
Antepost would be a bit different I imagine, and the effect on the Supreme and AB would be interesting

Get rid of all the graded mid distance races at cheltenham and have them at Aintree instead

The problem is I'd still like a four day festival, and if this year is anything to go by, if they get rid of those races they'll replace them with more fucking handicaps.

I'd leave the novice hurdles as they are, think they're a very small issue compared to other things like horses ducking out to the mares every year.

At least bring in something interesting for a new race if your gonna do it, like a 2m cross country chase :applouse:

I think there should be a ratings cap put on the mares race too. Cant be having Lossiemouth and BDA running in the Mares races when they would add tremendous value to the champion hurdle.
Its like Liverpool being able to play in the FA Trophy and bulldozing the opposition at the expense of playing in the champions league. What other sport would allow this kind of nonsense
