Doe anyone else get the feeling as though Ballyburn could end up like Envoi Allen? Hype horse who smashed a Ballymore field - talked up as future gold cup winner but never reached those heights? The hype around Ballyburn now reminds me of Envoi just before the start of his novice chase campaign… obviously the turners not being there means he has to go a different route but still feels very similar

I don't get that feeling but every chance it could happen.

Agree. He could just be a mid trip specialist which raises the possibility of missing Cheltenham altogether perhaps. I do not see him as a stayer around Cheltenham especially on the deep ground that we've seen in recent years. Arkle or nothing for me.

I think we can guarantee bar injury he’ll be at Cheltenham imo of course.

The stable tour will go something like "He looks a real 3 mile chaser but has the speed for 2 but we could stay hurdling with him, i will have to sit down with Ronnie about it and see where we go"

Most Ballymore winners in recent history haven't really gone on in the seasons after. Envoi Allen is actually the most successful of the winners over the last 10 years. He didn't reach what we thought he would, but a 2 mile, 2 and a half mile and 3 mile grade 1 open chase winner isn't too shabby.

Ballyburn looked brilliant last year but if he can't jump fences well, he won't be winning the top chases and the 2m hurdle division looks top drawer if all of them are at their best.

Dancing City gone from one of the best value antepost price to one of the worst with this news.

Hope he shows during the season he has the class for the BANC, another who shouldn’t be pushed anywhere near the NHC.

Are you sure Lobos?

I'm sure it was charlie who kindly let us know the plan well in advance? and from post race reports I can't find anything about them targeting the NHC

....

Feb 9th after his fall Emmett at that point still hadn't commit to a target:

Mullins said no decision on his target will be made until nearer the time and his primary focus is the wellbeing of the horse.

The trainer said: "No decisions will be made about anything for a while. We'll see how he is in a couple of weeks. We'll take our time and let him come along."

But where did you get the info from Charlie ??

Makes a mockery of Emmet's comments in February when we knew in Jan !!

I'm with You on this one G.S , Only thing i am thinking is if they make more changes , and n.h chs , seem's to be a possible.
That might keep Dancing City over 3m.

Nietzsche has well beaten on his return today in Auteuil. Wouldn’t sound the alarm bells to quickly tho Jigme was also beat first time out last year for same trainer

Fabulous. That's proper insider. JP does love a big punt.

Yeh he's a good lad and the info is normally reliable. Still sick I backed Iroko for the Coral Cup and not the Martin Pipe. He took a chunk from JP and I got the wrong fucking race. After that, and not backing Corbetts Cross in the NHC I think I'm the only one on this forum who hasn't made any money out of this contact and he's my bloody pal ffs hahaha

….amazingly, it was this time last year I started the Novice threads (‘Novice Hurdles, Novice Chases and some individual threads for Gold Cup etc).

From a housekeeping perspective, it seemed to work well keeping them at that level so unless the Mods or members have any objections, I’ll look to set things up at some point today?

Thanks Eggs I see you have them up and running already. I for one thinks it’s good as it focuses conversations more accurately. Well done.

Just watched the Let’s talk racing episode with Gavin Lynch and Josh Stacey mentioned at the start that he’s heard 26th September could be the day for Cheltenham to announce the changes to the festival.
