Someone else tipped that up at the PTP the other day. Reckoned he has hidden talents. Quite well hidden so far - but hey, good luck with it chunker

Very keen to see if Shantou flyer has had a wind op. Think it could be w class above these

Not sure about the wind op but he's entered at Taunton on Wednesday in the Hunters Chase at 3:25. And as it stands is set to run.
Could potentially run against the likes of Mendip Express, Unioniste, Road to Riches

Have added him at 20/1 Coral Any Race (over the best price 9/1 for this race).

Alongside already having backed Stand Up And Fight, the only other horse that I have a small interest in is Caid Du Berlais (25/1) but happy to wait on that one.

Nice one Jono was waiting for an entry, can get 22/1 with Laddies price boost

He wouldnt run against Mendip Express or Unioniste would he? Same owner for all 3 and he likes to ride all of his

Would be the clear best of them now at their respective ages... if you're thinking about what he'd ride in March?

The only amusing thing I find. Is I spent a whole weekend of late nights looking through the ptp form last year to find an angle in this, and came up with a NR. (Fell in the last qualification race)

I spent about 15 mins this year, and it's likely imo that I'll have the fav and 2nd fav both at 35/1

Yeah im thinking only one will run in the foxhunters you wouldnt be buying horses to ride yourself to potentially get beat by one of your own.
Does Shantou need to win one of these to qualify?

As long as he places in this one it's fine. Should have no trouble winning one anyway

Apparently Burning Ambition misses Cheltenham this year to be aimed at Aintree

His failure to stay last year was a big blow to me. One of my biggest bets of the week ante post. I was very big on here on him too you may remember.

Travelled like a good thing but failed to stay up the hill. Aintree should suit.

For what it’s worth, Shantou Flyer would be my idea of the winner at this stage but no bet as of yet.

Gwencily berbas could be worth noting here
Caught the eye. Will come on for his 1st run in this sphere where he was taking on serious opposition relative to Hunter chases and giving away 5 pounds to race fit rivals.

Pacher du polder have any entries ?
I’m already on AP

Have not heard a lot this season though so far.

No entries & not heard anything but expect they’ll do the same as last year - give it a spin in Feb & then straight to Cheltenham

I know it has been mentioned before
But if the owner rides shantou flyer it seriously diminishes his chance of winning
At least 20 lb worse than Derek o connor

20 pounds is harsh.
He's bought a good enough horse, He's plenty of experiance now, Wouldn't fill you with confidence or be the best ( I'm sure he's aware) . But far from the worst.

If shantou flyer is that much better. As his rating suggests. He wouldn't stop him winning.

Agreed there jockeys you’d rather have than Maxwell himself - but to be fair to the bloke he was onboard when his horse beat Mr Fisher first time up at Newbury - so he’s not totally devoid of ability.

Harriett Tucker must be 40lb worse than Derreck o Connor then but she win it last year. Earlier in the year mr Maxwell beat mr fisher and James Bowen in a finish
