Foxhunter Chase 2020

still 20's now with hills

They’re sleeping still. Everyone else clocked. I had a couple of boosts to use so got 22s.

I think he’s very very smart. That 25 length win over Ballyoker Bridge was decent form. He had them all beat a long long way out today.

yep I backed it again.
Gave away a lot of ground and still looked lively at the finish.

Very interesting runner at Taunton tomorrow with this race in mind.

Wishing and Hoping. Like the look of some of his form, particularly the 25 length win over Ballyoker Bridge.

I think everyone will remember my love affair with Burning Ambition on here before the Foxhunters in 2018. This year it’s the same colours again for Wishing and Hoping and me.

I’ve never been the first to put up a horse on here that’s actually been competitive so maybe this the other days with W & H could be the one :victorious:.

I love him already. To jump that left and yet to win that easily against that field. I’d say it’s the best hunter chase performance since Hazel Hills Cheltenham win in this race last year. The only negative I have for him is that the jockey will likely deserve him for HH.

Loved the way Wishing and Hoping ran today, going left handed should improve him more.

Backed him at 22/1 soon as the race finished. The trainer and jockey have been placed
3rd (beaten 2 lengths)
3rd (beaten 1/2 length)
In the last three years.

Now down to 14/1 with B365 and only 12/1 with all others quoting, possibly one for multi’s too.

Wishing And Hoping did it well but, according to the RP (admittedly known to be wrong in the past) he was officially rated 19lb below Hazel Hill this morning. Reflections from the trainer and jockey will be interesting as will his new rating.

He is a similar rating to Hazel Hill when HH made his seasonal debut last January. He could be the mirror image of that horse, a year on, and two years younger.

That's why the connections' comments will be interesting.

Yes it will be very interesting, the owners are different though, and Wishing and Hoping’s owners will want to run in and win the Foxhunters as much as Hazel Hill’s.

W&H’s owners have had the two close thirds behind Pacha Du Polder in 2017 and 2018, so they will be really wanting to move into the winners enclosure with their latest recruit, who looks a better horse than Barel of Laughs was (even with his two Foxhunters thirds).

Different colours MoM, different owners, same owner who owned Smad Place

He is still 14/1 with the cashout kings in Stoke Kev. ‘Biggest price in the village’ as Big Mac used to say.

Mmmhmmm.

I don't like how much he jumped out. It being left negates it slightly but it's not something to be pleased about either.

Well done on the bigger price though, I'd obviously have taken that and would have had the 20's earlier today on the case made.

Will come back to him.

Not sure what my eyes were seeing and why I thought they were the same.

Without any quotes or figures here, I get the impression he’s a much improved horse in the last couple of years and is what I’d look for for in general for a Foxhunters (a race I always think is quite good antepost with the accessible pointing form out there).

My closing statement for a little while at least..
He jumps superbly (he didn’t make a single mistake all the way round today as far as I remember - asides from a few left jumps), has shown he has one hell of an engine (he must do to have that field today beat so far out and keep galloping all the way to the line), looked to have no issue today staying and gives me no concern about the extra 2f and has improvement in him (going left handed will be better for his tendency to jump left). Add to that the form today is actually pretty good by Hunter Chasing standards (Captain Cattistock, Ultragold and Bishops Road have all won decent prizes in their time) and the previous 25 length win over Ballyoker Bridge and he suddenly has some decent form to him too. What’s not to like?

I shouldn’t be allowing myself to be excited about one in this race again after being burnt (pun intended) two years ago in the race antepost but here I am - practically throthing at the mouth for him.

Get excited MOM , you’re not alone .:)

Rowley , Nicholls and Maxwell , 3 names that instantly come to mind

Maxwell has improved with experience and is no longer STD protege in the riding style stakes:highly_amused:

David Maxwell has a riding style that has his face raised all race compared with the other jockeys, which is good for spotting him in the crowd, in a race. It’s just his thing, like Lester’s backside.

With his wealth I doubt he gives a monkeys what we think :highly_amused:
