Fox Hunters Chase 2018

8/1 seems far to short for me to be getting involved in a race like this. Especially as he hasn't qualified yet. Good luck.

Found it

The Wexford native reported that his stable star could now be bound for the Cheltenham Festival following his latest success, with either a run in Thurles or Punchestown likely outings en route to the Foxhunters in March.

Looks like the Leopardstown race has been dumped. The Thurles race was last Sunday and Punchestown is 11 Feb. There is a 22f race at Fairyhouse on 24 Feb but that would be the last chance.

For what horse is that? Burning Ambition?

8/1 is NRNB so you wouldn't need to worry about him not being qualified.... the way the season plays out they're never going to be in a rush to have them primed early.... Cheltenham is the first in a series of "big" races in that sphere ....

Virak caught my eye when looking at this. Anyone fancy him?

Surely the standard here can't be that good if people are all over a maiden hunter chase winner?

It’s a hunter chase. When has the standard ever been world class? The only brilliant hunter chaser in the last few years was On The Fringe and even he wouldn’t have placed in a gold cup.

Burning Ambition will be up against a bunch of horses on the downgrade. Meanwhile he has been destroying his fields this season without being asked and is clearly a decent standard. The fact he could be anything as well makes him a cracking bet for this in a market that will be open every year.

I’d have him clear favourite.

I expect he may even end up being my biggest single bet of the week come raceday. Though Apples Shakira could play a part in that. Samcro I won’t be adding to if he’s odds on as expected. Save him for multiples and what I already have on.

Hasn't he only raced once at Limerick MOM or have a I got that wrong?

I am not that big on stats but I can't remember too many winners of this race with a similar profile, however bad the year.

One "Hunter Chase" yes however he has had 5 runs in point-to-points, winning 4 of them, the latest an 8L win over Samcremont who was with Willie Mullins (won the Flying Bolt Grade 2 over 2m1f in 2016) so not a bad horse.

Sambremont was beaten 22L by Gilgamboa in a Hunter Chase on Boxing Day, and Gilgamboa beat Foxrock by 10L recently...

He did do it easily though (Burning Ambition) so worth more than 8L I'd guess, and it was a different code.

Burning Ambition may turn out to be a very good horse but so far he has done nothing of any substance on the track and none of those he has beaten have come out and franked the form. It seems that most of the hype is coming from his local area and good luck to them if they have juicy prices.
As it stands he has to find 20lb or so to be up with last season's principals and I'll absolutely looking at February's form before going anywhere near having a bet. Having said that, best of luck to MoM who has had the courage of his convictions and will certainly not be due any flak if it doesn't come off.

Wonderful Charm entered up at Scotland this weekend. He's my only bet in this race... thought he was a bit unlucky last year (pocket talking perhaps!). But still only 10, we know he handles the course and track and is a classy type in this field. Looks like they are planning on taking a similar route to last year with him, as he won the Scottish race in a hack canter then followed up at Haydock. A year younger than PdP, hopefully he will get his revenge this time around.

I'd personally take his proven form over the potential of Burning Ambition at the prices myself. Always have that nagging doubt about Scorpion's being nutcases too, and the Festival will be a serious change of scenery from what the horse is used to.

I thought Katie Walsh gave him and Mall Dini poor rides last year. Finished very strongly not unlike Pacha Du Polder last year.

Easy win today for wonderful charm, lost his irons but still won well at 3/10 he should have... but 8/1 still looks like good odds to me for this..

Certainly showed he is in good form still this season, saw out the trip well. 8/1 with WH worth a look.

Placed horses have a decent record in winning too from memory

3m Hunters Chase at Punchestown this Sunday. Hopefully we get to see Burning Ambition entered up in the next couple of days and run.
I've held off until waiting for his next entry but If entered i'll be adding a couple of points on him

No entry for Staker Wallace at Punchestown on Sunday
Getting concerned now
Still needs to qualify
