Fox Hunters Chase 2018

I remember that race! Everyone was saying how tough it was - was it set to be the first female win in the race? - etc. But I was silently there happy to have the winner!

I’m sure karma will get me back but for a poor uni student it was a huge £40 win!

I'm already on the two nichols horses , so maybe i should stick with them , Does this race have a record of repeat winners ?,
But burning ambition does look good.,

Amazing that Race , do you know who the no 6 horse is , incredible how it jumps out to the left !!!!, and what happened to
the horse that should have won , did he hit the rail ?? , awesome race.

I had singles and multiples rolling on to Salsify, the wife had £2.50 on Oscar Delta, about 16/1 iirc.I was screaming on salsify and she was screaming on OD, she was obviously majorly peed off, but when I told her how much I had won she was happy enough, and a night on the time town and a great meal seemed to take her pain away!

Loved the commentary “The last thing she needs is people shoving a microphone up her at the moment” well indeed :highly_amused:

If Gilgamboa wins on sunday can he run at chelts in the fox hunters?

What is Gilgamboa's main aim this season?

Burning Ambitions won't be tomorrow.... if he gets beaten by Gilgamboa that certainly won't be curtains will it I'd have thought. WIll that clash back in Ireland late Spring?

As someone who hasnt backed BA yet but is meaning to, is today a good day to back or after the race tomorrow?

If you're with 365 then they're BOG so probably I'd back with them now.... he is against a horse that is odds on tomorrow and has proven quality, so it isn't crazy to see him beaten, but still be in with a good chance at Cheltenham

However if he won tomorrow, you've definitely missed the price, he'd be a clear fav.

It depends if you're happy to be with hjim IF he gets beaten tomorrow.... personally, I am, because Gilgamboa won't be there anyway.

The Walrus Open Hunters' Steeplechase is to be run at Haydock Park on Saturday 17th February, with a prize fund of £10,000. Owners who are considering an entry must remember the generous bonus put up by the racecourse for the connections of the winning horse in this race. Should the same horse go on to win both the Cheltenham and Aintree Foxhunter in 2018, Haydock will provide a bonus of £25,000; should the winning horse go on to win either of the aforementioned Foxhunter Steeplechases, a bonus of £10,000 is on offer to the winning connections.

Could be a worthy target for what Nichols believes is his best chance. It's a nice initiative and hopefully it's well supported

Liking that plan of attack Scooby, cheers

I will be looking forward to entries.

.morning assembly the only horse iv backed 20/1 ew nrnb he's having one more run,
Ran a lovely race behind a nice horse in rue hill as a gentle introduction back to the track. He was never asked to win. He then bolted up yesterday in kirkistown. Hes a classy animal at this level and has the course form. Hes sure to be popular when people catch on.

"In a very competitive looking open race, former grade one winner Morning Assembly showed his class as he run out a very impressive winner under Conor Fahy. Trained by the jockey's father Pat, who had a winner with Head Turner at Fairyhouse during the week, he indicated the winner will run again in open company in a bid to qualify for the Cheltenham Foxhunters"

I've taken to waiting until the decs for this race in recent years and backing the better jockeys. You can pretty much put a line through the field. Nearly worked last year with Balnaslow (50/1, Derek O'Connor) who I think may not get the trip but was cantering coming off the bend.

Burning Ambition looks a nice new addition to the ranks though.

Good solid run from burning ambition won't be one I'm adding but he'll have his chance,

Burning Ambition certainly enhanced his credentials there for me.

Certainly proved he deserves to be near the top of the market for Cheltenham IMO based on that run.

Gilgamboa did beat Foxorck by 10L but Foxrock was having his first run so I'd expect Foxrock to be closer.

I'm happy to have both of those running for me. (Fleming confirmed Foxrock IS coming straight here today too) ... don't think I'll add anything else - I'd fear plenty of the Nicholls runners and Morning Assembly but not really interested in doing much else at the moment.

Gilgamboa is a decent yardstick and not one he will face next month.
Burning Ambution has his chance
