Equine Flu Outbreak

Seems awful to be doing it, but 2 points on, thanks mate

Lads? Do you not think that you're over reacting a little. I hope you're not relying on the reporting today. At least wait for a positive test from somewhere other than McCain's before jumping off the cliff.

Sporting life update - Incubation period up to 3 day's , so they won't know anything till Monday,
Newbury racecourse already in discussions to Reschedule some or all of this
weekend's Races.

I left it when I saw '2019 Flat Championship' in the bet description.

Think all will be well, and I'm going back to worrying about what to order in for dinner :devilish:

For myself, if Cheltenham is cancelled... it will be the equivalent of telling a 10 year old Christmas is cancelled :sorrow:

There is much speculation on here about potential cancellation of the Festival but if the situation can't be resolved in time for mid March and requires a few more weeks, there may still be the option to postpone and reschedule. They attempted to do this in 2001 but regrettably still ran out of time.

I appreciate this probably wouldn't safeguard existing bets but might still mean the Festival could go ahead this year, if more time needed.

Yes, but that is still a disaster for anyone who has paid for travel, the week’s accommodation, and burnt a week’s holiday from work. No guarantee you’d get the rescheduled week off.

I inquired on live chat with bet365 as to what happens with antepost bets, to which they replied that a big announcement will be made on Monday...

Blimey - what do we reckon this’ll be about then?

I made same enquiry Gilly.
Was told is meeting is adandoned/declared void.
We would therefore get stake returned.

They'll likely be racing again by the end of next week. Everyone's going a bit overboard. Very unlikely they'll cancel / move the festival.

I know it's obvious but surely NRNB.

This flu will surely have a huge impact on the amount antepost bets being placed so NRNB would resume betting.

At the end of the day I would say bookies would rank money ahead of the horse's welfare

Expect some decent offers over the next few days.
Bookies turnover will be down and they’ll be looking to entice punters so I expect the odds compilers will have their creative heads on during a slow period....

Yeah, good points.

I'd certainly welcome some NRNB action from 365 now.

The weekend/Next Wednesday is a long time to look at the same thing I've been looking at for a few days already when nohing will really change

Exactly this is nothing like foot and mouth

What’s worrying is that ‘Flu’ is an airborne virus so this could be long lasting regardless of the precautions put in place. It’s one of those things that we can’t do anything about but just wait for the authorities to make their decisions but this is a big unknown.

I’ve heard this morning of a possible case in Newmarket, anyone else heard anything similar?

I got a phone call from someone involved with a Southern racecourse yesterday afternoon and they mentioned this to me. Perhaps just a rumour.
