December ‘22 Yankee

….I’ll nominate one at price before he runs;

Bo Zenith a general 20-1 TH.

A couple of reasons; Mark Howard nominated him pre-season as his horse to follow & I doubt he’d do that without insight from the Moore stable. Blood Destiny won well in Ireland today franking the form of Bo Zenth.

Good shout eggs il second that selection.

Did we decide on when the Yankee is being placed? Before or after the Christmas meetings?

I have a feeling Bo Zenith may run in the Finale hurdle for his first UK outing, so price would go if placed after christmas meetings

….I don’t think so, that’ll be up to MoM.

It’s no secret I love Gaelic Warrior. Last year was a gutting blow seek him chinned. He’d be my nomination for the ballymore. For so many reasons, all of which are obvious.

With an eye on Mullins horses I was scouring the markets to see if there was any real value left in any of his runners, now I know this isn't a Mullins yankee but it was/is MoMs unwaivering confidence in Gaelic Warrior that led me to checking as I have recently got stuck into the horse and wondered whether 10/1 was in fact value:

Gaelic Warrior - 10/1 noises are very strong, clearly no run before his Boodles last year was an error and looked a beast on reappearance, may still have other targets so question whether 10/1 represents any sort of value but if/when Facile Vega is confirmed to be Supreme bound GWs price takes a bomb, could easily be the plunge horse and go off 9/4.

Stattler - 20/1, stable second string to GDC but hacked up in his NH Chase and will stay, small doubt whether he acts on the New Course, otherwise solid contender and 20/1 looks fair.

Blue Lord - still looks a fair price at 25/1 but up against two superior in horses in Energumene and Edwardstone so probably best left

Kemboy -
archie will knowbut he has a Cross Country price of 12/1 which, if the switch were to be confirmed, would disappear quickly, a better chaser than hot fav Delta Work and this race has a habit throwing up well backed curve ball winners.

I haven't scoured the handicaps...

Hasn't been discussed within the group.

Coming round to the idea that Three Stripe Life will improve for a trip. In a wide open year for the RSA, I think he’s a very fair price seeing as to how much class he showed over hurdles. His Aintree run was excellent in my view.

Christmas Eve it will be this year btw folks. Been thinking about it last few days and I do think doing it before the Christmas racing (and the Lawlors in early January for Gaelic) might be the way to go.

Banbridge Arkle 20/1
Quite like this one for an each way Yankee. With Jonbon impressing, the race may cut up a bit. Likelihood is that it'll be Jonbon + a Mullins or two, Hollow Games/Fil Dor from Elliott and not sure just what else. Listing those out actually makes it seem like a great race!

From what I've seen so far, Banbridge would be near the top of my list as a dual course winner (echoes of PTKO), excellent jumper and strong stayer at the trip. Whether this is the time for him, I'm not sure. He's not due out at Christmas by the looks of it, but, even if others impress, bookies don't push out those lower in the market.

Halka Du Tabert - Mares Novice Hurdle

Very impressed with how she run today. 14/1 best price currently.

….thought Halka du TaBert won well today & remains a decent price 14-1 for MNH. Perhaps one for consideration.

…..giving this a bump as MoM saying he aims to put selections up on Christmas Eve.

i see he has already mentioned TSL (BANC) & Gaelic (Bally) so there must be a strong chance they’re included.

Blue Lord or Conflated for Ryanair.
With doubts over Allaho, they could go off a quarter the price they are now. If Allaho does turn up they would still have a decent chance of finishing in the places.Feel Blue Lord is probably the more likely to go here so maybe best I put him forward but think owner and trainer would be tempted to give Conflated another go here if Allaho is not around.

Blue Lord 16s with 365 and Hills, a general 14s elsewhere

I like the Blue Lord shout. Conflated may go to the GC so would prefer to leave him out.

Another I'd like to put up is Marie's Rock in the Mares. I know there's whispers of the stayers, but the chappy on here who is in/knows some in Middleham Park Racing said they were keen to keep her to her own sex. With a little doubt over Brandy Love and having proved at Punchestown that her win at the Fez was no fluke, I'd like to see her in one of these.

I'll throw up Kilcruit for the Turners... really starting to warm to him.

He won the key Irish planning race for Mullins Turners runners, I fully expect him to be Willies main dart in the Faugheen novices chase over Christmas, the stable clearly think a lot of him and Willie has said he's starting to look back to his best. Obviously it's Willie so got to take it with a pinch of salt, but the race itself is looking like a nice opportunity regardless. If we look at what's ahead of him in the market:

Mighty Potter - Fair enough favourite at this stage but he hasn't blown me away
Sir Gerhard - Yet to see him, maybe injured or hurdling
El Fabiolo - Probably Arkle?
Three Stripe Life - Assume he will be split with Mighty Potter
Appreciate It - Possibly Arkle
Allegorie De Vassy - Surely Mares Chase
McFabulous - Doubt he will be at Cheltenham at all
Jonbon - Arkle
Hollow Games - Could end up here, could go anywhere really
Gelino Bello - Probably one for Aintree
Classic Getaway - Would guess 3m+ is his bag
Fil Dor - Probably sticks to 2m
Minella Cocooner - Possibly 3m
Gerri Colombe - 3m+
Banbridge - Could come here

Race could easily cut up, I would guess 3 maybe 4 of the above would actually run in the race. Kilcruit is currently 9/4 2nd fav for the Christmas race, behing Gerri Colombe. GC beat Bronn by 2 lengths, I think Mullins would be disappointed if Kilcruit wasn't a fair few pounds better off than Bronn.

I'll also float Did I Ask You That, depending on what the market is saying about the bumper race once it's priced up. Should have final decs for the boxing day bumper by then, if he's in it then he has to be of interest (I would be equally keen on Chapeau if he's the one declared, hoping it's one of those two...!)

A no brainer selection just for archie :highly_amused:

Conflated 50-1 Gold cup. 40-1 General.

Obviously.
Has won an Irish Gold cup at Leopardstown over similar distance to the savilles, against a decent field.
Was looking like finishing second behind the highest rated chaser in training in the Ryanair.
His first run this year looked like a run out as the stable wanted Galvin to win.

And he is second Favourite to win the Savills over xmas, with a doubt about the favourites participation. So may go off Favourite.

If he wins the Savilles -
What price does he go ??

You'd actually have to have shit for brains to not think it's a worthwhile inclusion.

50s is an insulting price tbf

You'd think he'd be 10-14/1 if winning the savills

I think that he's the most likely winner on the 28th.

Over 3m2f at Cheltenham he doesn't get within cooee of those at the head of the betting.
