Cheltz Fest 2021 Behind Closed Doors ?

Do you think that should be a blanket disqualification Archie? If somebody didn't want to have a vaccination but could provide a negative test would that suffice?

If someone was prepared to pay for a test at entry on the day that would probably be ok.

How many family members of people on here, maybe even the posters themselves, have needed hospital treatment because of what are ultimately lifestyle choices? How many will at some point because they're overweight, smoke, drank too much. What about people who take part in sports knowing there's a risk they'll get injured, which is just about every sport, should we apply your logic to them too? Some people are coming out with some amount of sh1te off the back of all this. No vaccinations are mandatory in this country, 1000's die every year of flu, most at risk get offered the jab, the rest of us can pay for it if we want to, but the vast majority of us don't even thought plenty will get flu and many may pass it on. So many people seem to have spent most of 2020 daydreaming about wearing an SS uniform.

Edit: Just to add as plenty seem to be struggling with it, we aren't going to eradicate Covid, same as you don't eradicate flu. It will always be here, life will have to go on. This was also the message from Chris Whitty and co last night too, not just my internet warrior ramblings.

Bloody good post, Making it mandatory would be totally absurd. Most people i know will not take it and most polls i see online are saying the same thing. It has to be a personal choice.

We all know what happens to these polls and opinion tanks don't we :ambivalence:

Dear Member,
On Monday 23rd November the Government announced plans to allow a limited number of spectators back into sporting venues in areas of the UK classified as Tiers 1 and 2 from Wednesday 2nd December. We will find out tomorrow (Thursday 26th November) which tiers our racecourses fall into.

In the event that Cheltenham is placed in Tier 1 or Tier 2 level restrictions, on Friday 27th November you will be emailed a link to a Members' ballot for attendance for each day of The International meeting on 11th and12th December. The ballot application will close at 3pm on Monday 30th November.

Each day will be treated as an individual ballot. To ensure we adhere to all Government guidelines, we will exclude all members who live in a Tier 3 zone and a refund will be made to those members impacted at the end of the season, as previously advised.

The ballot will be online only so please try to avoid calling the membership team. Members will be advised of the ballot outcome via email on Wednesday 2nd December. Unsuccessful ballot members will be refunded for the day(s) at the end of the season and should not attempt to attend as your pass card will not work.

Members will need to bring their valid pass card and matching ID to gain access. In accordance with our contract, members will not be able to pass their card to a third party and will be expected to comply with all terms of access as advised prior to the raceday(s).

Members will also have a priority window to purchase hospitality for this meeting and in so doing will avoid the ballot process. To book hospitality please call 01242 537646. The priority period will close at 5pm tomorrow (Thursday 26th November).

We look forward to welcoming our members back to Cheltenham.

The Hospitality bit stinks in my view. Disgusting .

Money before loyalty!

Absolutely. If there are 2000
members that take up Hospitality over both days then there will be nothing left for the rest of us. I wonder how much they are charging hospitality? Anyone phoned? I bet they have put that price up by a fair whack!

I’m pretty sure the hospitality will be limited numbers Lobos :hopelessness::highly_amused:

Yeah right. Pull the other one. Money talks !

It's a fair point though. We have been unable to go racing, and still took out our membership knowing this, which I'd be certain has helped them through a difficult period.

On resumption we're then told we have to pay for hospitality to be sure of going racing. Once they've filled the restaurants which would be more than thousand across the facilities, the remaining 7000 members get to apply for the few hundred spaces (after certain relationships preferences!), that are left.

In many cases husbands and wives, and families go together. Groups of friends may be in the same bubble.

There's no thought to this at all. Hospitality and then take your chance. Is that loyalty and fairness to those that stayed loyal to them?!

Agreed Spectre, pretty poor in my view.

If Cheltenham ends up in Tier 2, there'll be very very little to go around if they're filling out the restaurants.

Absolutely this Spectre. They should only be offering Hospitality to successful members AFTER the ballot. Members have been shat on.

Surely they ought to try and make some money ?
It is a business after all, (that's been forced to close for months)
Those that don't go get refunded anyway.

They don't want 2000 members turning up with flasks and packed lunches to stand on the steps of the stands I'd imagine.

Totally the wrong attitude Q.

Totally the wrong attitude Q.

Nowt to do with attitude.

It's basic Economics - Supply & Demand.

If Businesses don't make money they eventually disappear.

But it's a business that relies on the goodwill of its customers Q.

I'm not feeling much goodwill towards them right now, and I'm sure I'm far from alone.

It's Covid profiteering. What did people think of the companies that put up the prices of hand gel and toilet roll.

Running a business like that they'll lose customers quicker and go out of business quicker. It's totally the wrong way to go about it.

Agree again Spectre. I understand the basic economics, but there has to be goodwill shown to members which it doesn't feel like there is. As mentioned earlier, offer hospitality after the ballot and its all good.

Unfortunately this will come down to the haves and the have nots. If you have the money to pay for hospitality, you'll be delighted at being able to guarantee a space. If you haven't then you're gonna be upset at people getting preferential treatment. Exactly the same as being able to pay for queue jumping at theme parks etc, unfortunately we live in a capitalistic society.
