Cheltenham Handicap Shortlists

Andrew Smith on Twitter. He has posted them all, Folski

Band of Outlaws has been given 139 which surprises me.

Could well be carrying joint top weight given at least 3 of the ones above him are going expected to go for the Triumph. Nasty that.

Lethal Steps is the one. 131!

Lethal Steps 131, think we are happy with that?

156 for the storyteller

Tough decision but you’d think he’s more likely to get something off this mark than beating the main protagonists in the Ryanair where he’s going to have to run to high 160s for a place if Monalee, Min, UDS, Road to Respect turn up.

Delighted with the Lethal Steps Mark

Lethal Steps 131 is more than generous. Pleased with that.

And I’m actually pleased that TS has a shout too off 156.

Martin Pipe only race Uradel will get in to ?

156 for the storyteller

Was hoping for 150

156 is still 5lbs less than his chasing mark which is what he’s achieved in graded races which I take more seriously than Marks achieved in handicaps.

Fingers crossed it’s in with a shout

Not sure the exact relationship, probably father/son, but Uradel will likely be one for Aubrey McMahon in the Martin Pipe.

Where do we think Gun Digger is more likely to end up off 142 lads?

Close Bros or Plate?

Close Bros or Plate?

Plate
Wins by 6l plus
Graded horse next year

Why would be run in the plate?
Close Bros has to be easier?

Mister Whittaker last year was going for the plate as they didn't think he'd get in... am I wrong to assume that would be first choice for any horse?
