I take that very view a lot of the time, I’m much more interested in horses performances in graded races than handicaps.

I believe there is a big gap in quality between the two and is something that can be exploited in first time out handicappers

Ones that have 3 starts, graded form, 100% completion & run at either Punchestown or Fairyhouse

This is exactly how I do it. Dwindle down so when the weights come out I can go through what I've already done with a fine tooth comb
 
I generally refrain from putting anything down in the handicaps until the weights are out but couldn't resist backing Kilultagh Vic for the Coral Cup at 33s. Will probably be carrying top weight but he only finished less the 2l behind Presenting Percy in the Galmoy 2 runs ago and with a bigger field he'll be less likely to run into the ground by Monalee like he was in the Red Mills.

Disappointed not to see Lethal Steps there... making me feel like UI should back Chief Justice and Surin... :highly_amused:

What I don't like about him is the change in trip, I think the only hcap winner he has had that has had a change in trip from last race great than a furlong was Cause Of Causes who went from 2m G2 Chase to the Kim Muir
 
Last 5 years Gordon has had 14 runners to run prior to 31 Dec, complete all starts of which there had been at least 3, run in a grade race and at either Punchestown or Fairyhouse.

Record is as follows:

4 Wins 1 2nd 1 3rd 1 4th from 14 runners.

If you remove Fred Winter horses that improves to

4 Wins 1 2nd 1 3rd 1 4th from 10 runners.
