Cheltenham Gold Cup 2018

Can anyone have Acapella with bad course form and needs cut? even with the new trainer?

Not a hope in hell Acapella wins a Cheltenham Gold Cup imo.

Sizing John will not run in the Betfair Chase at Haydock on Saturday due to the heavy ground, trainer Jessica Harrington has announced.

Last year's Cheltenham Gold Cup winner will be re-routed to the John Durkan Memorial Chase at Punchestown on December 10, and that leaves Bristol De Mai as*Sky Bet's 11/10 favourite*ahead of 15/8 chance Cue Card, who bids for a third straight success in the race.

"Sadly he's not running because the ground is soft, heavy in places and there's a bit more rain due," said Harrington.

"It's just the ground. I've been a bit worried all week. I didn't mind soft, genuine soft ground, but when they start putting heavy into Haydock, it gets very heavy.

"Plan B will be the John Durkan and then we'll take it from there."

The decision means Sizing John will not be attempting the £1million bonus offered by the Jockey Club to a horse that wins the Betfair Chase, the 32Red King George VI Chase and Timico Cheltenham Gold Cup in the same season.

The seven-year-old, owned by the late Ann and Alan Potts, was last seen winning the Punchestown Gold Cup in April.

I wonder if fox Norton could go for the king george now after the tingle creek, knowing that he now wouldn't be potentially harming sizing johns claim for the 1 million bonus. Hed be my idea of a gold cup bet. But plenty of time to see which route he goes

The way CT was talking after the race on Sunday was that he'd love a crack at the KG. He'd be a major player in the KG and a good performance there obviously brings the GC into the picture. There are certainly worse 50/1 shots.

I'm gonna throw a small few quid on him.

I really, really don't want to :(

He could end up in any of the 3 races at the moment and would have a better chance in the other 2?

You know my way of punting so this is a bit of a no brainer but I can't help feeling I am giving 1pt away :highly_amused:

Heavy ground and a very soft lead would be needed.

You get that every 189 Gold Cups so I am alright ;)

I'll be laying off closer to the time regardless as I can't see him winning a Gold Cup even in heavy at the moment. Would need a stone improvement at least from moving to Willie, which I won't rule out... but he can't be the first choice?!

The problem is Kev, when it turns into a heavy ground Gold Cup in March, AMERICAN will have jumped the field into submission....:devilish:

Djakadam, interesting to see him against sizing john in the John Durkan ... Ricci says he could go back to Ryanair but aimed at gold cup for now

Did he say anything about the king George for Djakadam?
