Cheltenham Bumper 2019

I'm liking Eden Du Houx & Enrilo from these waters. Have yet to play my hand, will wait for NRNB, then have a pop I suspect.

I’ve taken the 33s on Eden du Houx. The owner loves the festival & pipe can ready one for the race as we know. Can’t see they won’t run ( unless injury etc) so happy to take the price now than see it potentially reduce with nrnb.

Eden Du Houx is interesting isn't he...

The roll of honour for the race he won at Ascot is decent, with Didtheyleaveuoutto, Western Ryder, Coeur Blimey, Supasundae, Seven Nation Army, Captain Cutter and Shutthefrontdoor all winners of it.

Any news on where Eden Du Houx is going next?

I’m expecting straight to Cheltenham- they started off in the Plumpton race they won with Kings Palace - this was from the Ascot win:

“After making a successful debut under rules at Plumpton earlier this month, the four-year-old gelding took his form to a new level when making all in the St Andrews Holdings Championship Standard Open National Hunt Flat Race.
The Pond House handler said of the 8-1 winner: “I was not sure about making it with him, but these bumpers are usually go-slow and I said as he had the experience I thought we might as well go on.
“He always does his work easy at home and I thought he would improve from Plumpton. I thought he would be a bit more impressive at Plumpton, but when he gets to the front he only does enough.
“He is a lovely horse and I expect Caroline (Tisdall) will want to go to the Cheltenham Festival with him.”

Ive had a couple of small bets in this so far
Glory and Fortune 25/1
Eden Du Houx 33/1
Im waiting for the mares race at the Dublin festival as I've a fancy it that race which could fit my trends.

Thanks CK. I was looking at home last night and I'll add him at 25/1.

Does he not have to come in the top 4 this season? Or is it just at any time?

I remember Modus and Golsntilla running in back to back years so not unprecedented

Just going back to this Refinement also ran in back to back Cheltenham Festival bumpers, don't think he changed owner though.

Blackbow is still eligible for the champion bumper, if they so wished.

Wouldn't be able to run in a NHF on the racecourse beforehand.

Race conditions: It is for four, five and six-year-olds which have not run under any recognised Rules of Racing, except National Hunt Flat races, Irish National Hunt Flat races or French AQPS races. Horses are not to have run in more than four National Hunt Flat races and, before February 27, must have been placed first, second, third or fourth in such a race

I think it's touch and go whether he will make Cheltenham but you'd expect that hurdling will now be left until next season.

You'd think so Archie. Writing was on the wall with no entries. And his setback. Iv an any race bet of which id be very happy with if he went for the bumper. But more of a bonus if he does rather than an expectation.

Does anyone have any news on Energumene? I've not seen or heard anything of the horse in a couple of months.

Anybody have any news on Malone Road? Sure Elliott said that they were putting it away to Chelts anyway, however it had a set back. My guess by watching it was that it could well win the Chelts bumper but thats its real chance of glory. Think he has better options for next year over hurdles.

Finger is hovering hard over that Energumene cash out - but I've a double with him and adjali that I'm desperate to get a run for!

Although he’s unlikely to run again before the festival, there could be some movement in the odds of Master Debonair next week as he’s going through the sales ring at Doncaster on 23rd January. The current owners have a few horses but are not heavy hitters so I assume they want to cash in now. Whoever does buy him they have a ready made Cheltenham contender who has also schooled over hurdles as well. It’s not unheard of for JP McManus to buy horses this close to the Festival so I’ll be keeping an eye on the sales results.

Withdrawn from the Sales today.

Would we only find that out on his next entry?

Or is the another way?

Racing Post usually have a report of the sales so they may have something. I can check Twatter too.

I see Blackbow has been added into this market today. May well be and probably just someone adding him randomly but both PP and BF have him in at 14's. I know he had a setback recently, wonder if they have decided to keep him in bumpers this Spring for another crack at the race (Modus ran in the 2014 race then also 2015) particularly as it's starting to look like they may not have the usual amount of ammo to throw at the race (or more so the time to do so)

First thought was we could see him get an entry in the bumper races at the DRF but you cannot race in more than 4 bumpers to qualify for the race so IF he did come here, it would be first time out...

Edit Can now see I was about 2 pages too slow on this...apologies!!

Should he turn up he'd be high on my list having festival experience behind him too. Wonder what SkyBet will go NRNB, may have to get this requested.
