Cheltenham 2020 - Ante post bets

Not have a dig at all on Joe Chambers but just to bear in mind, he made a tweet 2 seasons back saying Deal D'Estruval is "the future"

But you can only take positives from it certainly
 
Brilliant from Faugheen despite jumping errors! What a week for racing to see him and Douvan back
 
Great to see from Faugheen from memory I can't remember a race where he was headed and came back to win. Be interesting to see where they go next with him.

Not for me.
was nice to see him win, but was nearly on his knees twice and looks an accident waiting to happen.
His ability got him the win against average horses compared to him.

As great as it would be (and it would be one of the great achievements at the festival) i'd be utterly amazed if it happened.
The races would have to absolutely fall apart for him to win. He's 11 rising 12 years old...just too old whoever or however great you are.
And his engine and class got him through today, not his jumping. He won't have such leeway in better races.
 
Would be based on pure ability, but 2.5 has probably always been his ideal trip

Haven't learnt much but nice display. He's highly thought of and 37/1 with the boost Any Race with Hills looks way too big. Gone in again.
 
Took the plunge on Midnight Run @ 25/1 e/w for the Albert Bartlett . I’d be happy if he can challenge Colreevy tomorrow over a trip that I think will be well short of his optimum. Joseph generally tends to cautiously start his novices off over the minimum trip. Hoping the soft ground will ensure a fair test. Can see this being a stepping stone to the Navan Novice Hurdle in a months time. Bellshill took the same route a few years ago.

Have him doubled up with his brother for the NHC & RSA in a few e/w doubles too. Up the Knockullen Girl offspring :devilish:
 
28/1 with cash out at Bet365 (was 33/1 before today). He’s only got a chance in the Albert Bartlett in my eyes and even that may be a year too soon. Can’t see him being competitive in any other race so my preference would be to have the cash out option.

Can see where you are coming from Jackie, but there are just too many options for him to me. Could they keep him in Bumpers? Probably unlikely but you never know. Could they go Novice Chasing right away? Probably unlikely too, but looking at him, you never know!

I can see your point and it’s handy to cover the other possibilities. But I’d never fancy him for the Champion Bumper as he’s too slow and I don’t think I’d want to back a horse who won a bumper at odds on going straight over fences either; I’d want a lot more experience.

Added Midnight Run for the Al B myself yesterday SeanRock . plus in a couple of multi's.
 
What a few days it’s been for the old favs. Its like I fell asleep for three years and woke up to see Douvan, Faugheen, Wholestone and West Approach all winning. :sleeping:

QUOTES: THE BIG GETAWAY is a chaser in the making and I imagine we'll go straight on over hurdles. He's as big a horse as I've ever had. He just gallops all day and probably wants softer ground - Willie Mullins, trainer.
