Cheltenham 2020 - Ante post bets

I still find it very strange that Harry Whittington buys Mister Coffee and sends it to Nicky Henderson to train?? Both Whittington and Henderson are close associates but why would he not train the horse himself?? Unless I’m reading old info and he no longer owns him??

Harry Whittington bought the Mister Coffey originally and trained him for his bumper win. He then put him up for sale after his impressive victory. Tom Lacey completed the purchase for big money but the horse has now gone to Henderson and owned by Lady Bamford.

It’s very common for smaller trainers to buy store horses with a view to selling them for a sizeable profit.

Thanks Jackie for clearing that up. Strange Tom Lacey didn’t request to train him when he sold him. He’s a decent trainer. I’m assuming Lady Bamford decided he was to go to Henderson. I’m finding it quite normal and confusing that lots of novice horse information online is not up to date which makes it’s tricky to keep up to speed.

I get the idea. To expand on your idea

No idea how to myself, but one of the mods may know.

Might be useful to have a thread of screen shots of the oddschecker markets say once a month or so.
That would be easy reading To compare the odds/ moves throughout and especially at the end of the season for analysis.

May or may not help future years, or be of interest. It would certainly interest me. And give clarity on the likes of PP moves for elliot mullins etc...

May / may not be of interest to others but I’ve always checked Irish markets v British
I’m a pen and paper man and not the best on keyboards !!!!

Hope the mods find it useful

A Wave of The Sea is the first name on my Fred Winter watchlist (sure the market wont have missed him when it becomes available)

Possibly have to bear in mind that hes not got / getting, the former coolmore horses this year. And guy cherel is all sold up on the juveniles that jp also gave him, to give him a good foundation.

The ammo he recieved last year was second to none. He hasn't that privilege this year. So a wave of the sea may be a triumph horse for him.

Anyone know when the rest of the Markets will be up for the festival thanks?

I hadn't thought of that Scooby , saw he's priced up in the Triumph hurdle earlier.

Minella Rocco may be sent Hunter Chasing ... in the irishracing .com news today//...

Just noticed Bet365 have their any race market up. Only Envoi Allen priced up at this point, but might be worth keeping an eye on.

Two for Mullins I’m interested in is voix de reve and real steel, both of which ran in the JLT this year. What are people’s thoughts on them?

Real steel just hosed up at down royal at the weekend and was second to the aforementioned at fairyhouse. Do we see him making the step up to a gold cup contender or possibly just the Ryanair? Not a great price for Ryanair pp fairly short but sky have 50/1 about the gold cup, would need to step up to 3m next race do we think he has this the improvement needed?

Voix de reve cheltenham form isn’t great but I think he was in the process of running a cracker coming down the hill before falling in the JLT, went on to win grade 1 at fairyhouse and then I think was sent over an inadequate trip at punchestown. Again will he make the step up to gold cup contender if bellshill has possibly had his chance from same owner? Again Ryanair could be the angle for him. 365 25/1 for Ryanair and can’t see him priced up for the gold cup.

Love both horses Craigy, and both Ryanair prospects I feel. Be interesting to see how Willie splits up his ones coming out of novice company and his experienced horses.

Was talking about this horse only last night, interesting to see where they go next with him. If it's into a G1 there aren't a raft of 3m G1s in Ireland. Durkan over 2m4 might suit him, but then they have a fair few that could show up there, including the other horse you mention. Not too sure what else there is for him. Sure Willy will find something.

See if I was in charge of Irish racing the lack of graded 3 mile chase races wouldn’t be an issue, I’d hold one every week, they’d be sick of them come March :highly_amused:

Any info From Henderson regrading Dickie Diver (4m?) and Likely Birchdale target ? ( I don’t get any RPost stuff at that price, lol)

Also Pic D’orhy from Nicholls ?
