Cheltenham 2019 Festival Going & Weather

That's a significant change from good almost everywhere in just over 24 hours. Must have had a lot of rain last night.

Plenty still about the next week...

All the forecasts are different but Metcheck only has 1.5mm of rain before Tuesday.

"We've had 17mm of rainfall overnight and 27mm in total since last Wednesday. We're now good to soft with a bit of soft out there. It's sunny here now but we might get a few more showers today. The overnight rain came as no surprise and the forecast over the recent period of time has been pretty much spot on. The outlook remains unsettled with plenty more rain to come. The forecast suggests we could get another 17mm in the lead-up to Tuesday and, if it is correct, we should be looking at a combination of good to soft and soft ground on day one, but in what balance I wouldn't speculate at this stage".

As I said, all the forecasts are different. Accuweather has 9.9mm but they all change every day.

Yeah impossible to know archie. Just thought it was worth posting Claisse's quotes.

I always find www.yr.no the most reliable myself.

This rain is excellent. I want a deluge!

Tricky forecast that.
If the Tuesday AM rain don't turn up, it's likely just Gd to Sft. Or better if it's windy and sunny, which is forecast over weekend.
And no time to water.
He should water saturday I reckon.

Yeah I was thinking the same q. Very tricky for him. If there is plenty of rain forecast early Tuesday he cant really take the risk and water.

Hope he just leaves it be personally.

Just leave it, stop playing God and if you're that upset abou the ground, don't back ante post and wait until the day.

Playing God is a bit strong isn't it :highly_amused:

He can't risk watering on Saturday in case we get that rain on the Tuesday.

Has to leave it

Yeah. I reckon he probably won't.
But I'd definitely do some maintaining watering, which he's done before, so wouldn't say there no chance.

Not personally worried about ground either.
And I don't think most trainers will pull their horses if it's nearer good (like they have most of the season)
They'll suddenly consider that good spring ground is better than good winter ground.

But I wouldn't want lots of withdrawals if it came up faster. Like we've had at big meetings this year already.
Hopefully the rain comes in early Tuesday and stops just before I get off the train.

Which is about 10am if anyone is playing God.

bits of rain and damp the last 2 days .. not very drying tbh. From where we are now I would say its almost soft ... there has been enough and no way its dried out . More forecast sat night (for which i wont be here so I cant help) ... but if the forecast is right for mon/tues you must be looking at soft ish. Its just damp the last few days and has been raining on and off - just like today,

I'm dreading the racecourse on the Tuesday if it rains.

The Met Office web site is saying it is going to piss down hard for ten hours prior to racing starting on Tuesday. Looks like it starts easing at about Noon.

Is it forecast to be cold, wet and windy on the Tuesday Beau?

Mostly dry for the next 3 days it will start Good to Soft then fluctuate from the soft side to the good throughout the week imo!
