Cheltenham 2019 Ante-Post bets

Have you backed them all already or is that your shortlist BF?

I don't do singles antepost Kev and never have done. I've done 4 bets so far . E/W 4/5/6 multifolds with 2 or 3 selections for each race. Perms can come to £146.60 per go but the returns are good. I've had a good few returns using this method over the past 40 years. Not had it right off though...yet.

I thought of Our Duke on Saturday when the Boat Race was on.

This one of the bets that I've already done . It's a perm'd. E/W 4folds Staked £84.80. On with Billy as usual.

Presenting Percy
Our Duke } GOLD CUP
Native River

Balko Des Flos

Will Ballyward definitely go chasing? Could improve plenty over hurdles and Wylie loves a Stayers Hurdle horse

If i had to guess then i would say the intention at the start of next season would be chasing, based purely on two things. Of all of the novice hurdlers at chelt Ballyward and next destination were the two most pronounced jumpers for me who would, looking at the way they hurdle, really appreciate a fence. Secondly, hes a flemensfirth, chaser stamped all over him. Obviously its too early to say though. 2 negatives..apart from a couple of horses, flemensfirths dont have a great chelt record and also there is some evidence flemensfirths are mud lovers.

Gordy says still not decided if they’ll train Samcro as a Champion Hurdle horse but Mengli Khan will definitely go chasing

He might not have.... I reckon the owners know :p

Mengli Khan for the Arkle most likely?

:highly_amused:

On the subject of old boats.... NAtive River is an absolute boat. I hear on podcasts people saying "he isn't just an old boat, he won a 2 mile hurdle"

SO what!

BOAT.

He was a huge boat in the Kauto Star, he was a boat in the 4 miler.

Boat, boat, big boaty boat.

Presumably you had him in Stable Stars like I did.:devilish:

Given that most people on here still want to concentrate on Cheltenham, why not do a monthly ante post yankee for the forum. Doesn't have to be big money with the prices on offer, and it would maintain a good level of interest and chatter throughout the year. If just one paid off it could be a nice pick up, if not it keeps the forum ticking over with ideas.

Good idea that Mr M, you can never have enough Cheltenham yankees....

Does anyone know if William Hills to win any race prices are available in shop? I went in last summer and the guy couldn’t find them on the system so rang up and was told they are for online customers only, seems daft

I backed Samcro in the shop at 10s any race in May so should be possible. Slightly annoying thing is as it was longer than 6 months before the event they won't payout in the shop and I have to send it off to their HQ and they'll send me a cheque.

The two hills shops near me wouldn't allow me to bet on this market in shop so it may differ from shop to shop

Like the sound of that

Scooby,

I think you put up De Bon Coeur for the Champion Hurdle as an outside chance she’d come but was a big price if she did NRNB.
Did you see her win that good race at Auteil on Sunday?
Her jockey never moved.

Such a shame she never came over :sorrow:

Very impressive! What are the chances of her coming over next year?

King Socks for the plate, I think will be a cracking bet, Pipes stable clearly in atrocious form, has a year to sort that. Might go for Paddy Power Gold Cup or whatever its called now, hopefully then be kept for this.

Kings Socks impressed me greatly at fest. Could be big star next season.
