Cheltenham 2017 Antepost Bets

Will be a negative for a lot of JP horses now unfortunately. Bad news that.

Fehily will pick up some nice rides. Does Mark Walsh now get first pick on all JP's horses?

They seem to do each case on its merits. UNWIMH had Fehily aboard to win at the festival last year... to me, that'd make more sense than Mark Walsh?

You'd imagine Walsh must get the bulk of the rides, at least in the handicap entries. He has yet to ride a festival winner. Anyone know his record at the festival? Sure it's more down to lack of opportunities than anything.

Though i'd presume Fehily will pick up the rides on both Buveur D'Air (first 6 starts) and UNWIMH (4 times last year) with Richard Johnson
picking up the ride on Defi Du Seuil (twice)?

Yeah .totally agree with jono
Fehily been filling in on some of hendersons. Notably altior while nico was injured. And I suspect mark Walsh to pick up rides on Irish jp horses

I'd be very happy with that combo ... considering you're losing a top Cheltenham jockey, Noel Fehily and Richard Johnson have both got enough experience for you to be confident still. Not very often you'd lose a retained jockey and replace him with another jockey who has previously won at the festival on it!

Barry used to be my favourite jockey, but he's gone noticeably downhill of late. Not sure this is much of a worry for backers of horses he would have ridden myself.

Would agree with that, debatable if it is a negative.

I think there is a fair chance Coleman will be on Buveur D'Air. Fehily not exactly wonderful in last year's Supreme and Coleman has been on this season.

20p EW Heinz

Hargam, Mall Dini, Western Ryder, Peregrine Run, Devin Bere

Pays just over 2m. Worth 22 quid lottery ticket i think, but will wait until thursday and see weights. Max payout is only a mill anyway so room for odds to shorter.

Forever the dreamer.

Not sure I will show a profit at the end of cheltenham, don't like betting everyday any more only big handicaps on a saturday and big flat races but love cheltenham and I alway do antipost and a few singles & yankees on the day, real sad thistlecrack is out as I thought he was my main banker.

Welcome Mullinsmull - glad you've dipped your toe in the water this time around! :)

I'd be hopeful you'd make a profit from those. You only need Carter McKay to win and you're already up. Goes without saying Yorkhill and UNWIMH look solid too.

Thanks Kevlar, a few bankers but if one or two of them do not come in then I will most likely be chasing my tail, I will alway have next year.

Frank said Noel was on standby for Buveur D'Air.

Barry has been there and done it more than anyone but Ruby. Coleman and Mark Walsh are good riders but have never done it.

I'd have to agree.... I'd rather have Barry on than Aidan Coleman in any race on any horse at the festival. I think AC is good, and unlucky to not have more winners, but it can't all be luck.

VVM, Yorkhill, Death Duty, Defi Du Seuil and UNWIMH- super yankee seems like the right plan with these targets 99% set in stone now

Ive backed them all in different accas - except VVM. Not a bad shout though.

you could really go for it and throw neon wolf in their too and maybe melon on the back of comments. would love to come up a goliath 1 more to pick for that kind of bet

On the Fringe/Cantlow/UDS

right guys i think i have a handle on it now and have the winner of every single race :triumphant: :triumphant:

Ive backed every horse you mentioned there other than VVM (was unsure of target) and Melon. One hell of a goliath
