Cheltenham 2017 Antepost Bets

For anyone interested the faugheen Annie power vroum vroum mag treble is as high as 140-1 with coral.

Just had a nibble on Faugheen, Annie and Yorkhill. 59/1 for CH, MH and JLT..

Just had a look at my shortlist and noticed betfair were best odds on a few so done a little Canadian with them. Avoided all the short priced favourites as most of them are tied up in little accumulators already so gone for.
Moon racer - supreme
Messire des obeaux - neptune
Bellshill - rsa
Camelia de cotte - mares novice
Dinaria des obeaux - Triumph

I have only two so far. Brain Power for Champion EW at 40s and Valseur Lido EW at 12s for Gold Cup. That don't seem quite as attractive now after the Lexus

Sun Bets Stayers' Hurdle - 16th Mar 2017 – Outright Ballyoptic @ 16/1 – £33.00 O/0258
Queen Mother Champion Chase - 15th Mar 2017 – Outright God's Own @ 20/1 –
RSA Chase - 15th Mar 2017 – Outright Might Bite @ 12/1 –
Cheltenham Gold Cup - 17th Mar 2017 – Outright minella rocco 40/1

Give myself a second chance in last leg of the ew Yankee

Supreme -Airlie Beach 10/1
Champion Hurdle -Annie Power 5/2
RSA - Bellshill 5/1
Ryanair- Valseur Lido 7/1

Valseur Lido over the Ryanair distance will be very hard to beat, if it goes for that race, travelled like the best horse in the race in the Lexus, and the extra distance cost him the race.

I feel like I need to take stock of all my ante post bets... however everytime I try, I spot something else and dabble again.

I've tried to 'avoid' the situation I had last year with Faugheen getting injured (and the Annie Power shuffle) so although I haven't made a hard and fast rule not to back Mullins' runners, I am trying to avoid more than 10 points lost on any given horse...

I fear, that won't be the case...but I will work that all out later on tonight and see where I am at.

How does everyone else feel at this stage, and what are peoples plans for the next 10 weeks ... I assume most people start ramping things up now!

I try not to get carried away over the next few weeks but if something catches my eye I'll back it.

I increase the amount of multiples I place the closer I get to the festival and slow down in the singles.

Hows this year compared to others in terms of stakes so far?

I've staked far more at this point than ever before. You?

My total (Ante-post and 'on the day') for 2016 festival was 391 pts.

For the 2017 festival I have already staked 336 pts, so I am way ahead of where I have ever been before.

I am more confident than I've ever been before though too and I've had 7 straight profitable festivals so the glass is half full... just a bigger glass :D

I am exactly the same, just this evening I've sat down and gone through my AP book to be astonished at how many multiples I've done and how much in total I've staked, I've done On average 2 Yankees a week since September, that's without the few doubles and singles I have as well, nothing more now till nearer the time when horses and targets are confirmed, as it stands I need Min, thistlecrack, moon racer and yorkhill, those three dominate my book and at least for now have shortened in odds and top their respective markets!! Here's hoping!!

Just found a note from myself in a spreadsheet and Jan 3rd 2016 I had 84 points invested in Cheltenham.... so I am 252 pts more than at this point 12 months ago. Scary :triumphant:

Morning lads..
About that time of the year where i will stick on a 'dreamer' bet so that i can retire early :D
Anyways ive went for:
EW Goliath
Moon racer for - supreme
Petit Mouchoir - Champ hdle (mainly for the fact AP and Faugheen aren't certain to even turn up here and if not price will drop sharply)
Might Bite - RSA
Thistlecrack - GC
Defi Du Seuil - Triumph (mainly because i've stuck with this horse the last 3/4 runs and cannot desert him now but needs to sharpen up jumping)
Douvan - CC
Apples Jade - Mares hurdle
Altior - Arkle

Be singing and dancing if that could come somewhere close :triumphant:

126 points staked thus far for 2017 - double what I had at this stage last year.
Like you Kevloaf, I am more confident this year than previously (forever the optimist!)
In previous years, I have made novicey errors by loading up on short-priced accumulators, only for (at least) one horse to be either injured, or change target.
This year, I have focused mainly on singles where I am confident on target and as such, barring injuries, will get a run for my money.

Having said all that, good prices are harder to come by as we get closer to the festival, so like FM - most AP bets from now will be multiples.

Welcome to the board darlojim.

My ante post portfolio is miles down on this time last year and I think most of it is down to trust.i got battered last year with the Mullins shenanigans and as a result have been reluctant to go to mad this year.A few bets I did do early have petered out and I'm sort of struggling to get a whole lot of enthusiasm for the Festival.....I know I know, I can't believe I'm saying it myself as for the last 20 years or so Chelts has been my betting life.
Most of my bets have been confined to multiples, and as a huge fan of Min I have just checked and can't believe I only have about £25 on it.i was just thinking, in previous years I was like so many on here with liabilities everywhere well in advance of the Festival, I always had my Big Bucks and Quevega doubles on by May,cos I knew they would be going for those races, now there just seems to be so much uncertainty in so many favs that it is stopping me diving in,however I have done the two forum Yankees.

Still loving the enthusiasm of so many on here, keep it up guys I'm enjoying the read.
